Sam Bennett, on track for rookie of the year! I so want to send this kid down to the AHL and have him come back up as a man 15 to 20 pounds heavier. He is awesome now, falls all over the place though, added strength would make this kid a pure beast. Yet we cant send Sam to the A! Junior only! Think we can all agree he is too good to be in junior!I am more scared for Sam than I am Johnny. Johnny knows how to steer away from trouble spots, Sam drives full speed into those trouble spots. He scares me, yet if he can survive, and gain the muscle I mentioned, man this kid is gonna be a star. Our own little McJesus! Just hoping the kid doesn't get hurt like McJesus.Sam is looking really good lately. Took him about the same amount of time as Johnny did to understand the NHL.

Not sure where your getting the "falling all over the place" stuff from but Sam Bennett is bigger/stronger then you think, He doesn't have the huge upper body but he's got the solid core/arse/legs which is most important for hockey.

I would guess he's playing around 190lbs, In person he doesn't look a whole lot smaller than Monahan or Frolik and he's bigger than quite a few. Jooris, Backlund and Raymond are smaller and of course there's Gaudreau and Hudler.

Pretty sure he's got the beast part already figured out.

Sam definitely does not belong in the AHL, OHL or any other HL other than the NHL.

That's a weird statement. On track for ROY and you want to demote him?

I think you've forgotten what non-HD looks like. The main camera wasn't great, but it was most certainly HD. If you watch some old highlights from pre-2004 games, you'll see non-HD.

I'm actually amazed we used to watch TV in standard def and were generally okay with it, I guess because we didn't know any better, lol.

Bennett's GWG happened at 17:11 of the first period. That's 42:40 earlier than any other Flames' GWG this season.

He could get hurt in the juniors too. The risk you take playing sports of any kind. If the kid keeps this up he will be looking at a Calder for sure.

I think if the Flames have to change their game to suit the competition on a given night, they don't have a solid identity. Do you think Chicago changes their lineup depending on who they play? I doubt it.

That is insane.
Maybe my eyes are going crazy but it seems like Johnny gets 2-3 mid-air cracks at that puck. The first possible one lifting it initially off the ice, the second attempting to pass it over to Mony and the more subtle third one looks like he takes another crack to lift it over the defender's head? And Mony definitely only bats it once. Whatever the amount, insane hand-eye and skill from both!

Judging by Johnny's body language I think he was trying to flip it over the defender to himself, which probably would have been the goal of the year if he succeed. But the resulting goal was also hugely impressive.

Oh, he is falling all over the place. Last time I remember seeing a player on his back, or with his ass in the air as often as that, was Kobasew. The big difference is, Kobasew was always flattened at the blue line trying to gain the zone, and Bennett is in the corners, or in front of the goal.

In many ways, Bennett also reminds me of Hall, in his recklessness. Big, big difference there though is that Hall's recklessness is dumb, and Bennett is not.

Unfortunately, his secret identity and reason for his puck handling magic is now revealed...he's actually Peter Pan.

That's all I could think too. Even more impressive is his lack of height to start with. The kid is the real deal in just about every possible way.
