That's what i figured when they signed Ramo. I'm starting to think that the Flames, especialy Hartely, was not sold on Ortio as a 1B goalie going into the summer. The problem of having one 1B goalie is that the back-up has to be another 1B goalie. A 1B goalie and a standard back-up is asking for trouble. That said Ramo and Hiller aren't even playing like 1b goalies. Should be giving Ortio a shot, but i don't see it happening for at least a couple more games, maybe a lot more than that.

Easy decision for Hartley. Give Ortio a chance on Friday, see how he does. Meanwhile, Treliving needs to be basically ringing round every team in the league seeing if they'll take either of the 2 vets. Don't care about the return, a 7th, a crappy AHL player, anything. Just get one of them gone. If a trade fails, then you waive Hiller and demote him when nobody takes him.

For me, as I said at the weekend, both Ramo and Hiller are struggling because of the uncertainty created by having 3 goalies on the roster. This has to be dealt with, then hopefully the 2 that are left can settle down and actually start producing NHL level form.

This has to be sorted by the time they go on the road trip after the Red Wings game.

Ok, I'm starting to panic now. At this stage the Flames need to send Ramo and Hiller to the beer leagues and go with Orito and the goalie coach.

It's actually smart that the Flames are sheltering Ortio right now. I'd hate to see Ortio "developed" during this hot mess of a team. He'd be hung out for dry and lose his confidence. Just like Dubnyk with the Oilers.

The long game is what's important. Milk Ramo and Hiller until its obvious, then trade one or waive one.

It should be Ortio but it won't. Btw why the hell is Ortio no being dressed in the back up position. If Ramo craps the bed he should sit next game in the press box and same for Hiller. Ortio should back them both up, there is no reason why Hartley can not do that. Both of these inconsistent goalies need a strong message sent.
