I believe we're the youngest team in the playoffs, we have our best player out of the line-up, we are struggling to get to the cap floor, and we have a lot of picks in the top end of this years draft. All that, and we're in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
What a year.

Colbourne cost us nothing. ####ty refs did. We have been just as If not better than the ducks the past 2 games. We have proven even at a young age we cab give the nhl elite something to think about. We are not out of this series and I believe that we can win the next game and give them something to think about

Flames lose 4-2 in Game 4. Ducks lead series 3-1. Brink of elimination
Some bad mistakes put us in a hole. An awful giveaway in pretty much the worst place to give it away by Johnny and that awful penalty by Colborne. At the time I'm shouting with frustration at the TV, wondering wtf they are doing, just absolutely fuming at them.
But now, I'm sitting here thinking about it. I'm fuming, at a hockey game in May.
May.
And a big reason why I'm sat here fuming in May is because of these two guys. That is the big picture.
A picture they should be proud of.
Go get em in game 5!

Anaheim converts on a lot of chances. Very opportunistic
Mistakes cost the flames. Bad giveaway, bad penalty to take, and deflection for the goals.
Ducks will continue to crash the crease because there are no repercussions. Flames D is too small.
I saw Wideman throw a hit tonight though. Honest

People forget their D core just finished potty training. The if their top 4 are 23, 22 and 21. That is crazy. Andersen, Maroon, and lots of others too.

Tough one for sure. Not sold on the "learning experience" side of it for the mistakes. Gaudreau's not going to have some revelation that he's not supposed to give away the puck as last guy back, he's known not to do that (and hasn't had a blunder that bad all year) since he was 7 years old.
Colborne too aggressive, and Beauchemin a bleeder (I assume).
Ferland outside/after the goal was fairly quiet. Bouma even more so...I don't think those guys are game fit/ready, and Jooris would've given a more consistent game IMO than certainly Bouma.
Not sure how Perry didn't get an interference call across the blue line in the second, never mind the extra shot he took at Ramo with the knee to the head in the first.
This one was tough because they deserved it more than Game 3. 1 goal up with 25 mins to go, or, at worst, tied going into the 3rd, this team would take 100% of the time, but, uncharacteristically for this years squad, found a way to screw it up. But like Game 3, that's the fine line...same in game 2...a 1 goal game until 8 minutes to go.
Shame they couldn't get more pucks through in the 3rd; with the way Anderson was giving up juicy rebounds, it would've just taken someone in the right spot to bang it in.
Just can't put a finger on it, maybe its all the come backs (within games and from adversity) during the year, but I really don't think this team bows out on Sunday, with the season over just like that.
And then, thinking a day at a time, I don't see them losing back at home in a wild atmosphere Tuesday, which would setup the Game 7.
Bottom line, I think there's another twist here yet to be seen...not sure what it is, but it will be another wave on this wild ride.

I honestly thought I'd be mad if we lost tonight, but I'm not. This team was pegged to be basement dwellers at the beginning of the season. If you told me that we'd be in the second round of the playoffs back in October, I would've laughed. I'm super proud of this team no matter what the outcome is in game 5. This is probably the most fun i've had watching the flames play. It felt like I was 10 years old again running down the street with my little Flames car flag with my friends. I'm still not giving up hope, but if it all does end in game 5, nobody should be upset about it seeing how far we have come.

I think it definitely is a learning experience, just not the way you characterize it.
Hockey is a game of reactions and rehearsed movements. Painful stimulus will cause a second thought next time Johnny wants to wheel on front of his net or Colborne wants to get a good hit on a defenseman.
Neither Johnny nor Colborne put much thought into the actions that led to the outcome, they reacted. Next time, they'll likely react differently

Words can't describe how I feel about those 2 clowns who officiated the game tonight. Ya you know what Johnny had a bad give away and Colby took a penalty (still have no idea how that was 4 minutes), even given the circumstance that ain't a penalty if you don't call Perry on Brodie. I don't know it just sucks to know you were facing an up hill battle down 2-1 and going into 4 that game was officiated that way.
Officials should be set for every series. Quit ****ing changing them.
The nhl is a god damn joke but anyway...
Come back boys

How can the goat not be the Flames #1 power play? Colborne was the victim of Beauchemin's dramatic flair and the refs unfortunate spontaneous decision to bite. The refs then gave Calgary a 5 on 3 midway through the 3rd, if that isn't a sequence of make up calls, I don't know what is. And then the Flames failed to capitalize. That, not Colborne's slightly reckless hit, was the real difference in my humble opinion.
I thought in general the Flames looked good and I'm optimistic the Honda Center curse will be broken Sunday.

I thought Colborne played great other than the penalty.
It's a learning experience much like Ferland had to learn after he took an awful penalty in game 1 last series.
Onward!

Ignoring the mistakes, I think this was the Flames' best game of the series. They were far from outmatched in this game, and Anaheim had a bit of luck on their side again. That Johnny chance and the Monahan post... Usually those ones go in for those guys. The Perry interference non call was ludicrous and the four minutes for Colborne was excessive but that's not why we lost. Bad turnover, bit of bad luck, and inability to get anything going on the 5-on-3. I was thinking they should have pulled the goalie and gone for a 6-on-3 to get the tying goal.

All things considered, a tiny miracle in the hockey universe. If the Honda Center Curse can be broken then my friend downstairs gets another work-night at the Dome. Here's looking at you, box people. And incidentally, God bless the Oxford comma.

Those were more than enough to put the Flames away.

Feel bad for Johnny... He was screened by backs and didn't see the duck player coming... Not much he could do there. Good read by the duck

Really disappointed by some of the comments here. Laying the blame at the feet of Colborne and Gaudreau and Monahan for making mistakes is weak. They are all young and need to learn from the heat of the playoff crucible. Sounds cliche but teams need to learn how to lose before they learn how to win, and a team full of young players learned a hard lesson tonight that they will not soon forget. Simple errors add up and the kids found that out last night. This loss will payoff in spades down the road. We should be exceptionally happy that this team is being lead by the Colbornes, Monahans, and Gaudreaus right now, and our veterans are riding shot gun. This bodes well for the future, so relax and enjoy the ride, no matter how many games are left to play.

Hate being "that guy", but that game was on Eric Furlatt. Friggen guy has always hated the Flames.

Exactly, well said! For all the "house money" talk I see around here we should be thrilled to see them learning how to win here and now.
