This. He's had success this season, but man, I won't be sad to see Ortio take over the reigns. Hiller looks like an 80s-era goalie.

Pretty self explanitory.
The Flames have been down going into the third period 27 times or whatever it is this year (don't feel like looking it up) and we've only won 10 of those games. It's not like it's a winning strategy. It needs to stop.

I think it's 28 times.
10-16-2
Not a winning strategy at all, nope.
However, for a rebuilding team that was expected to be a bottom dweller this season, having trailed after two periods in only 28 of 58 games (less than half), that's not too shabby.

Looking at just the numbers, no it's not bad at all for a rebuilding team. But when you look at how the Flames play, they're a completely different team in the 3rd period compared to the 1st. We've seen them have the ability to go toe-to-toe with any top team in the league in the 3rd, but in the 1st period against those same teams they get beat in every aspect of the game. I don't know what Hartley and his assistants have done to try and get this team ready for puck drop, but they need to figure out something soon if they want stay in the playoff hunt

I am sure the coaches know the importance of the first 2 periods. Whats equally important about the late finishes is confidence, especially if you get to the playoffs.. The Flames have teams doubting because of their ability to come back late in games, take those late wins away and we would be significantly out of the playoff picture. Whats more is the Flames are committed and willing to push hard to get those wins, something our previous teams didn't have.
Right now for a young team its about believing and learning to win. The 1st and 2nd period constancy will come. Baby steps first.

Could it not be said that the way they play (slow starts) has got them in the playoff spot they are in right now and that to suggest they drop out of a spot due to the slow starts is contradictory.
The slow starts for sure hurt, but it hasn't had them out of the playoffs to this point (granted they were out for some portions), why will it definitely down the road?

I know it's already been said many times, but this was far from a snoozer. I have literally almost fallen asleep at games against the Wild before. This was far and away the most intense and exciting game against the Wild I've ever attended.

I've been in the hospital for few days waiting for my surgery, I had to mute the iPad three times to make sure all that screaming wasn't coming from the ER a floor below me. I seriously thought someone was getting stabbed to death.
All that over a T-shirt? Unreal. If only someone caught that on their phone
