But if you only look at score adjusted for last nights game, you're ignoring 50+ minutes of the game. It's fine to use score adjusted corsi (heavily weights 5v5 only while it's tied) to predict future success if you have a decent sample size. It's better than base corsi.
It's kind of silly however, to say flames won possession 5v5 of a game if you're going base 3/4 of your weighting on 9 minutes and 55 seconds of the entire game.

Regardless of possession time, Flames had at least as many quality scoring chances as the Sharks, if not more. That seems like a more meaningful stat than Corsi. The game never really seemed in doubt so I don't see why it matters that Flames 'lost' the Corsi battle, or whatever you call it.

Exactly.
If you keep digging though, you will eventually find numbers that fit your narrative.

I've just finished watching the game. We had the San Jose feed. Right from the get go, their commentary team were raving about the Flames.
"These guys are for real"
"They work hard"
"They're fun to watch"
"Bouma is everywhere"
"A series against the Flames would be great!" (not sure why they'd want this one though)
Right throughout the game they kept on about how good our team is. And you know what? They're right.

Yep, they were essentially in awe last night that the Flames have taken the season series so easily from the Sharks. Didn't slag the Sharks performances in stead gave all the credit to the Flames.
Been pleasantly surprised with the SJ crew this year. They call a solid game.

Lots of out of town crews have given credit to the Flames this season as a hard working team that's fun to watch. It's been nice.
