Ya I think that a lot of people will be confused by that opening, it essentially is telling you that this already happened and because it is showing me the city in the trailer, I assume that it means in this movies universe. They could have cleaned that up, although there isn't really a point flop is going to flop.
According to reddit the top comments on youtube have been getting deleted routinely by someone. Many of which have been negative, but tasteful. Dislikes are now 10k over the likes..

Sony is probably paying off writers to say this trailer was amazing. In fact I haven't seen a single negative article from a reputable news/blog site yet, despite the overall general public perception that the trailer was quite poor. Also rewatching the trailer, wow is there ever a ton of product placements.

I don't get the racist comments. She's a black chick from New York who isn't good at science, but knows how to get around town. That's a fairly lucrative skill for three scientists who have likely never even been to a nightclub. If anything, having the muscle of the group being a large black woman was likely the most realistic and sensible approach. Any race other than white and we're being racists, but then make the muscle white and we're fat shaming or going after gender identity or something.
Relax people. Its NOT racist. It's a terrible trailer for what looks like a terrible movie, but its not racist.

That's the kind of bad that could actually ruin the original for me. I don't think I can take the chance, I may have to pretend it never happened, like Grade 7 gym class.
