Yup, Justin Smith and Patrick Willis will both be retiring tomorrow per PFT. Wow it's falling apart fast for the 49ers.

Stephen A. Smith has deducted Chip Kelly is a racist for keeping Riley Cooper while letting black players walk or cutting/trading them.
Quote:
“Let’s get beyond the system, the operative word is ‘culture,'” Smith said. “The culture is what resonates with me more profoundly because I’m looking at a Chip Kelly and I’m like, really? Now, you’ve got to remember, where did I work for 16 years? I mean, this is Philadelphia. You understand what I’m saying? I’m always in Philly, and I’m telling you right now you’ve got people walking the streets and, hell with it, you’ve got brothers walking the streets going like ‘What’s up with Chip? I don’t understand this. I really don’t understand what you’re doing.’ Now I’m not saying I know, I’m just saying that it does strike me as a tad bit odd. I’m going to repeat this. Gone: LeSean McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, you know, DeSean Jackson. Staying: Riley Cooper. Really? Really? OK.”

Man he and Skip Bayless should have been fired years ago, instead he'll get some phony suspension and be back. ESPN probably loves this actually.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets do something interesting to try to get Kaepernick.

They also let cut Todd Herremans and James Casey, signed two African-American FAs and look to want to trade their white QB for a mixed-race QB, or the opportunity to draft a Polynesian QB. What a bunch of racists. Mind you this was the same guy who last summer blamed women for domestic violence.

I don't care what anyone says- that Suh contract is ridiculous. Some stats floating around today- Suh is 3 and 11 against the big name QBs that are making this type of money, with 4.5 sacks in those games. He had 2 games last year with only 1 tackle, 1 game with 0 tackles. Can't blame Suh for taking the contract, but no way he should be making more than Watt.

No surprise that Pats announce they aren't picking up Revis option with the big bonus due tomorrow.
Would Revis rather lose with the Jets for an extra 1 or 2 mil a year?
My guess is they are only announcing it, but won't officially decline the option until last minute. This allows them to exclusively negotiate with him till the last minute without having to worry about the Jets talking to him... although most suspect that is happening anyway.

If Revis leaves, I would think the Raiders and Jags are the frontrunners. I mean if money is the reason to leave (and it is), why not go to the 2 teams who will easily offer the most? Going to the Jets for less would just be bizarre, it's not like the owner loves him (he doesn't) and the coach who does is in Buffalo where they can't afford him. Still think he re-signs in New England.

Ya, I think there is a good chance he stays in NE, but I think most sources are saying it is between NE and the Jets. Jets are going to offer just as much as anyone else- 60 mil over 4, half guaranteed sort of thing. Pats will no doubt offer less per year, but possibly the same guaranteed money.
Edit- The Pats are allowing Browner to talk to other teams and gauge the interest on him. The other option is they want to restructure his contract. This is a good sign they have something in principle ready with Revis, since there is no way they would lose Browner and Revis. My guess is they will sign Revis and have no choice but to release Browner if he doesn't restructure.
Wouldn't be surprised if it is Revis-Butler next year for the Pats.
Although being a perennial winner goes a long way to helping teams during FA, it can't be a good thing to be the team that always wants to restructure contracts.

Now that the #Eagles have re-signed Brandon Graham, maybe Chip Kelly can get away without having to deliver a speech at Selma.

It's been a rough year for 49ers fans. With all the extra cap space now with these retirements I could see them being more active in free agency.
But tough losses either way, looks like it'll be an ugly season this year.

Don't believe Chip Kelly is a racist? Explain to me why he tried to choke out Jason Peters earlier this year then. http://giant.gfycat.com/FrequentArom...nshorthair.gif …

So ESPN posts this....
...and of course the internet nearly collapses on itself. Not true in any way of course, still hilarious.

Nick Foles to the Rams rumours:
Quote:
ck Foles' name is becoming commonly attached to trade rumors lately. Earlier on Monday, Eliot Shorr-Parks reported that the Eagles shopped the 26-year-old quarterback at this year's Senior Bowl. One of the three teams reportedly interested in Foles was the Rams. This happens to be consistent with another NJ.com report from back in January that St. Louis is interested in the Eagles quarterback.
|
That trade makes sense for the Rams if their plan is to finally cut their losses with Bradford. Cost would probably be similar to what the Chiefs paid for Alex Smith two years ago, so something in the neighbourhood of two second round picks. Although the situation in St. Louis is slightly different than the Chiefs. The Chiefs were rebuilding and just hired a new HC. The Rams have completely stagnated and Fisher might be desperate enough to throw his first rounder at the Eagles for Foles.

Busy times for the Texans. An end of an era as they release Andre Johnson. What an amazing professional. He was basically the reason I started to follow the NFL, and the reason why I chose the Texans as my team. He will be dearly missed. I hope he finds success somewhere.
Also re-signed Ryan Mallet and Kareem Jackson, and agreed on terms with Brian Hoyer, apparently.
