I literally cannot find it anywhere stating that he is not playing. Give me a credible source, and I'll believe it. As of tonight from the official draft, we'll know for sure.
EDIT: Just saw the twitter post, but no other media outlet. Hope this is reversed.
I probably would have watched had they just not announced Johnny going in, but doing it then taking it back? Screw that I've got better things to do. Any other sources though?

To be fair to the NHL they never reported he was in, it was shoddy journalism by some of the main networks.
@ReporterChris on twitter mentioned Gaudreau and Ekblad were in.
Then everyone jumped all over that including TSN, Sportsnet etc.
When the official press release from the NHL came out only Ekblad was announced. Looking back I don't think the Flames ever mentioned or announced it either.
Only logical explanation to play one player short though is that Johnny has a small injury and the team doesn't want him to risk aggravating it.

Whether he plays or not, the organization of this event this week just seems so bush league. It's like there's one guy running the show from the trunk of his car.

haha, that gave me a great visual. Just some dude that looks like Old Gill from the Simpsons, standing at his open trunk, hearing that two stars have dropped out, leafing through a hockey news magazine for replacements.

Sound like some pretty irresponsible reporting going on.
That said, I wouldn't watch the ASG anyway. It's really a glorified shinny game to me. Gave up on watching it many years ago. Skills competition might be a different story.

This was him yesterday when Crosby and Malkin dropped out.
