What's even more impressive about those back to back Vernon Road SO's was that it happened in a super high scoring season in 92-93, and he did it against the Red Wings who were the highest scoring team that year, and NYR, who put up 304 goals.

Upon further inspection, Vernie nearly had 3 Road Shut Outs in a row, as he gave up 1 goal to Ottawa in the game prior to the Detroit SO.

I really really like Ferland.
Ferland has a great set of paws on him, which to me is the most impressive element in his package. He makes nifty little plays at full speed, in traffic etc. Great combination of size and skill.
IMO, Ferland should be the last of those three sent back to Adirondack once the injured return. Tough choices to make!

I suppose I should change my signature now since we're nowhere near McDavid status.

You reckon?

My order would be: Sven, Knight, Ferland then if you really have to, Granlund then Jooris. Until Ferland shows some production(not that i'm criticising him for not putting up some numbers) on the level of Granlund and Jooris, he has to be ahead of them in the order of demotions. They have done more to warrant being kept over him.

But like you say, tough choices to make once Knight and Sven go down.

I guess Knight and Sven go down, once Raymond, Colby or Stajan come back, seems like one of them might be back before Backs.

After that, who else? I think McGrattan stays up and does Bollig. So that leaves Ferland as the next to go back down?

Nevermore. Never score.

You need to change the 63 to 31

And Jonathan Leahey to Karri Ramo... and maybe even change the nevermore to neverscore

If I had the photo skills I'd do it, but alas I don't.

That was a total domination by the Flames. When they are skating they can beat anyone in the league. Great forechecking and they are all over the puck right away. Coyotes don't have an answer even when Coyotes tried to slow down the game. It doesn't matter which line is on the ice, players doesn't quit chasing the puck. There was no passenger in this team that's why I don't understand about the comment on Glencross being lazy.
Our young guys are improving. Yes they are not contributing scoring just yet but they are playing plays unfortunately so far it is resulting into a goals. It will happen though soon. Ferland skates much better than when he used to a few years ago. He is very skilled and I think he'll be a good power forward in the future. He can skates and pretty tough to move. Granlund will be tough to send to AHL when all the injured players comes back. He is a. ery responsible young player who is not afraid to help out defensively and he's got some offense with him too. I hate to say this, but I would rather see him play over Matt Stajan but that's just my preference. Josh Jooris is here to stay after the demotion of Setoguchi. He's been a great surprise since the training camp. I never really seen Jooris before except when he got called up last season. My impression on him at that time is not really good. Wow this guy proved me wrong and he deserves a spot on this team. He can play centre or wings and very responsible player. He energize his linemates the way he plays. Karri Ramo with the back-to-back shutout. He's been focus in his last 3 games. I like him more than Hiller but I wouldn't say he is the #1 goaltender in this team. I like #1A & #1B goalies because there is a healthy competition between the two goalies. It's good that Hartley is giving the start to the hot hands. It is up to Ramo to keep playing then when Hiller gets the chance I hope he will try to keep the start longer too.
I am just loving this team. They are proving the so-called expert wrong. I remember reading a thread on how will the Flames be this year. Some claims they will be awful and will be fighting for the Connor McDavid sweepstakes.bEven the media was saying the same thing. Now everybody is talking about them in a good way.

Ramo has played great the last couple games but he's also benefited from some near-perfect defensive play by the guys in front of him. Last night especially, I thought the best chances for the Coyotes were from the outside with very little traffic. Plenty of time and space for Ramo to see the puck. Not to take anything away from him. Two shutouts in a row in the NHL is an amazing accomplishment. But those last two games show that it takes a full team effort to earn a shutout.

I don't usually watch the full games on PVR if I wasn't able to watch them live, but seeing the Flames skate circles around the Coyotes, and put on an ABSOLUTE clinic was such a pleasure to watch, start to finish.

Since the Flames have been out of the playoffs, I haven't seen them once handle the Coyotes like that.

And I hate the Coyotes. Thank you, Flames. Thank you for sticking it to them for 60 minutes. We didn't even give them a sniff. The Ramo highlights on the shutout after were all far out shots where he looked to be having fun stopping them. Good on him for laying the goose egg, but damn, did the team make things comfortable for him.

Impressive is the only word that comes to mind. Let make it three o's in a row on tuesday and have our next opponents shaking in their boots!

If this is the team we think and hope it is, then last night they played the part perfectly: they took it to a lower opponent for 60 minutes.

Two small items:

- Although Diaz is definitely a 5/6 pairing defenseman, he's been invisible out there the last two games. That's a great thing imo.

- Watching Ferland straight arm the Coyotes player to the ice in the second period was fantastic. Too bad Byron couldn't score on the set-up.

I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by posting this, however, sportsclubstats.com lists the following information:

Chances the Flames make the playoffs: +6.3% to 88.9%
Chances the Flames win the Cup: +1.3% to 5.5%
Most likely playoff seed for the Flames: 2nd in division (27%)

Chances the Oilers make the playoffs: flat at 0.3%

Knight and Sven are the only obvious cuts to the farm. After that, I would probably trade/waive McGrattan only because Ferland plays that physical kind of game but can actually contribute offensively and Grats isn't playing anyway so what's the difference.

If you waive McGrattan he gets taken right away, maybe by Edmonton. If they trade they at least control where he goes, if he has to be moved. The return is secondary, if you are willing to waive him anyway.
