And here is the reason MAN created the term "chic-flic".... you probably have "fifty shades of grey" nominated for an Oscar.

And you left out the part where your husband loved it.

Maybe we've all just watched Jurassic Park so many times that it has stuck in our heads.. ..and the only one who agrees with me is the blood sucking lawyer???" "Thank you."

Or maybe both her and her husband just didn't like it - because you know - people have different tastes.
But nope - let's dial up the sexism instead.

Did anyone stay past the credits? If so, is there anything there?

I would tell you but people don't like spoilers in this thread.

My 7 year old was absolutely hooked with this. As the credits came on at the end, she stood up, grabbed her chest, and kept saying "Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God".

She literally jumped out of her seats at a few parts as well.

So for her, I suspect the impact will be similar to what mine was for Jurassic Park, albeit I was in high school when the first one came out.

Or more likely it's someone on an internet forum just trying to be different to slam the top box office hit of the year (and likely top 3 in history)

I'm not sure why one would bother going to this movie expecting something different. Jurassic World delivered in spades.

From people I have talked to or read on the web, there are plenty of people, who were huge fans of the original and hoping for a return to form, that thought this latest film was anywhere from underwhelming to hot garbage. Not quite universal praise for JW and there are a lot more than just a few rebels out there looking to criticize a hit.

Saw it again last night, I still really enjoyed it the second go-round. The JP childhood nostalgia was still there for me at the start, when they reveal the park. Love it.

Yeah the last 20+ mins jumps the shark and the climax is cheesy as all hell (even more so on your second viewing, when tension is removed from the scene). For a movie of this magnitude trying to hit more of an "all ages" crowd, I can't say I'm surprised though.

Actually speaking of which, there were tons of young kids in the crowd last night, they were everywhere. I didn't notice that the first time I saw it. Wonder if this movie had the same effect on them as JP did for me at that age in theatres.

Avatar was the top box office hit of the year when it came out, and one of the top 3 in history. It was and still is an abysmal, awful movie.

I haven't seen this - keep coming in here to try to talk myself into spending 2 hours of my life in a dark room for it - but I've heard bad reviews from plenty of people, of both genders. The sense I get is that it's a spectacle but doesn't really have much depth. In other words, a solid summer blockbuster. Which is fine. But for some people that's not enough.

As for your sexist crap, in my opinion the mark of a truly well made, all around good quality "guy flick" is that girls also appreciate it. Take Mad Max: Fury Road, for instance. My mom liked that movie.

Nope, I hated the movie for everything that it was. Agree with her 100%. I found it incredibly dumb and hackneyed with 0% of the magic from the original. The second movie was better and it was meh.

Just because a movie made money doesn't make it good. You liked it? Good for you, that's what opinions are for. You get one and so does everyone else.

Adjusted for inflation it's only just broken into the top 30. It's done well, but to call it top 3 in history requires an asterisk.

Just got back from seeing this. I enjoyed it somewhat, even though the acting was pretty bad.

There was an uncomfortable amount of product placement in it
