We have a lot of frickin former Leafs. Not only could we ice an entirely former Leaf line, but it's actually a plausible line combo: Raymond-Stajan-Colborne.

Lines when Stajan comes back:
Glencross - Monahan - Jones
Gaudreau - Jooris - Hudler
Baertschi - Granlund - Byron
Bouma - Stajan - Ferland
Bollig, McGrattan
Gets tougher when Raymond and Colborne come back (most likely Baertschi/Ferland go)
When Backlund eventually comes back, Granlund will get sent down.

Would they send Granlund down? Or try to move one of Bollig/Macgrattan?

I don't think they would send Bollig or McGrattan down. We haven't had a healthy roster all year, so the chances of Bollig being in the press box is slim.

Chances of Granlund going down is slim if he keeps playing well. Why not waive Grats at that point?

If it's a choice between McGrattan or Granlund as the 13th or 14th forward, it makes more sense to send Granlund down so he can play.

I'd rather play Ferland over Bollig (younger, better, still fights if he has to) and waive or trade Bollig. Keep Gratts as the nuclear deterrant. Cheaper and a way better fighter if it comes to playing a Scott or someone like him.
Then you'd have something like:
Glencross/Monahan/Jones
Triple J line
Granlund/Backlund/Byron or Raymond
Bouma/Stajan/Ferland
Bert gets sent for time in the A, unless one of the other kids droops. you could also keep Sven and send Ferland.

I wanna squeeze Byron and Granlund in there somewhere too. Can they squeeze in as our 3rd D-man line? I mean if Washington can play Mike Green... What's the worst that could happen?

I will bet that they keep Ferland up as long as possible. I think Granlund goes before he does.

Knight goes down first as I think he has.
Stajan goes to 4th line.
Sven is next when Raymond comes back.
Raymond 3rd line.
Ferland is next even though I really like his fit on this team.
Colborne converted over to the wing.
Grats perhaps gets put on waivers?

Keeping Ferland over Granlund would go with Burke wanting the team to be bigger.

Draft Pick

Lines when Colborne/Backs/Raymond are all back
Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler
Raymond-Stajan-Colborne
Glencross-Backlund-Jones
Bouma-Jooris-Byron
Giordano-Brodie
Russell-Wideman
Wotherspoon-Smid
Sven, Granlund and Ferland go back to the AHL to play big minutes and are the first call ups.

A good problem to have, but scares me a bit. Chemistry feels so good now. I don't know how you don't put Raymond back on one of the top two lines, but I don't know how you demote the kids.
Hopefully with Hartley's magic and the team first attitude the Flames seem to have players can cycle in and out as they get hot and cold without making anyone mad.

"Conditioning stint" on the 3rd/4th line? Would be cool to see them claw their way into a spot vs being handed a spot... but I wouldn't count on it happening this way.

Coming back from injury isn't being handed a spot. Cherry always used to say that players should never lose their spot because they get hurt. You lose the room that way. I don't agree with much of what he says, but that one rang true.

Agree, you can't take away Colborn and Raymonds spots because they got hurt. All it really does is put kids that are fully capable to play in the NHL a chance to rip apart the AHL. Then when the need arises, you know you have some stregth to draw upon again when injuries arise. I'm pretty excited to see Raymond and Colborne return.

@SUNGilbertson: #Flames C Mikael Backlund skating solo this morning at Saddledome, pushing pace pretty hard as he recovers from abdominal surgery.
