Not sure what you mean how does it work, I pre-ordered and it said I'm 1071st in line. Doesn't give a delivery date (that'd depend on how many phones they get).

2. The modern day Windows registry can handle millions of entries. Even if you found 200 orphaned registry entries, do you really think they're going to make a lick of difference? Unless they're malicious of course (invoking malware, image hijacks), which brings me back to #2, what exactly are you doing on your machine beyond it being a sedentary HTPC?
Registry cleaning and performance used to be a thing back in the Windows 95/98 days. These days, not so much. Orphaned entries in the Windows registry are ignored. The OS only cares about its own settings, and knows where to find them; it ignores everything else. Similarly, applications are coded to query a specific set of registry keys by their developers; and again, they ignore everything else.
Registry cleaning on the modern Windows operating system is a myth. Your 'monthly registry cleansing' is not doing a thing.

For existing Fido/Rogers customers who ordered an on-contract subsidized iPhone 6, is it true that your plan has to be at least $80/mo?
http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/carrier...80-month-plan/
If so, that's insanity...
I pre-ordered an off-contract iPhone 6 from Apple based on that. No problems at 7am today.

I've read elsewhere (can't remember where) that it's $60 for Fido, and when I called yesterday (had a login issue but asked about this too) she said my account was fine and I don't pay $80. But call centre drones can be wrong.
But if you do have to upgrade your plan to qualify:
The carriers subsidise $480 or so, so if you have to pay $20+/mo more for a plan it makes more sense to buy outright, if you have to pay less than $20/mo more for a plan it makes more sense to buy from the carrier.
EDIT: Looks like the $80 for Fido might be right for new customers at least, on Fido's website to get the $450 discount it says you have to have an $80 plan.
https://www.fido.ca/web/page/portal/...lyPlans/Group3
Plus I didn't account for any discount you get by bringing your own device, Fido offers 10% discount.

I'm currently paying $68/month with fido and I still have the glorious 6GB plan. With about 9 months left on my contract I'm almost tempted to snag an unlocked 5S at cost and leave things as is when my contract ends.
But I'm also thinking of paying the $50 unlock for my 4S and see how much longer I can ride it out.

Well I'm sure if Torque had known he was dealing with a tech bro who times his startups he wouldn't have corrected you. This changes everything

I pre-ordered the phone (no contract) and should be able to pick it up at Market Mall on Friday between 6:00pm-7:00pm. A question for those that have been through this type of thing before...
Does Apple provide the SIM cards? I'm coming from an iPhone 4 and I don't think my SIM card will work in the new phones. Since you can get phones with a plan at the store I was assuming that you could also get SIM cards? Is that a fair assumption or should I look at buying a new SIM card ahead of pickup time?

I haven't been through this with Apple, but I seem to recall somewhere on the pre-order them saying to bring your SIM. I'd bring the new SIM with me just to be safe.

Which one did you order? When I ordered at 3:30am MDT, the 6 Plus was on 3-4week and the 6 was available for immediate delivery.

I'm pretty sure Apple will give you a SIM card. I believe that is what they did for my wife a few years back.

The upgrade process for Rogers and Fido is that you are able to grandfather your old plan one last time, only if it is above $80 with the voice/data portion. This doesn't count add ons like caller ID and voicemail. Otherwise, as always it's recommended you speak to the retentions/loyalties department to see if you can get more out of the plans they're giving you. Don't expect to pay less than $80 though.
Not entirely familiar with AppleCare+ but wonder if there's a separate pricing for the 6+?

Am I insane to think I'll be able to walk into the Apple Store and get a 6 (not the plus) on launch week without a pre-order?

As for size, I think Apple hit it out of the park. 5.5" is the new norm, and having held a friends Note, or even the S4, the iPhone seems inadequate in size. If too big is an issue, the 4.7" is a good in between. Feature wise, say what you want about Apple, and others having NFC, mobile payments hasn't taken off at all with others, but with Apple it is sure to happen quickly. I like how they made it easy to install your card. I also like the Android-esq predictive keyboard. Again though, I think all in all, the biggest feature nowadays will be the catch up in size.
Apple Watch: I didn't see a lot of the interactive features coming, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the direction they took it. A lot kinda gimmicky, like sending your heart beat or drawing a stupid face and sending it to your friend on their Apple Watch, but it's at least interesting to see that this will probably be built upon in a more interesting way in the future. Major, major disappointment with the design of the physical watch though. Too small, square, thick, cheap and gimmicky looking. The design is so un-Apple. Too many bands to choose from, which is hard to believe Apple doing, but almost none of them in the presentation appealed to me. Especially at this price point for such an ugly thing, I won't be jumping at the first generation. Maybe the second which undoubtedly will be improved upon, but for now the thing is not elegant no matter what gold is attached to it. Again though, I do like the features to some degree and like where they'll likely take the thing in the future. Hopefully they come up with the second generation around May because I can't see the thing selling big with that cluster#### of a cheap design.

The bolded. What rubber feature on the phone are you referring to?

They do but they waived it for me when I was bargaining new contracts with them. I really think it helps when you have multiple phones in your household up for renewal as I did much better than some people on my current contract when the 5S came out.
