It was 3 minutes after the pick!!! He could have been thinking about that ####ty trade offer he just got 10 seconds before the camera panned to him! Think there's any chance he wasn't still fuming about what happened 3 full minutes ago when he was on the clock and deciding what to do right now?
How do you know that was live video? Anyway, either way it doesn't matter, we got a nice center.
One of the best picks we have had in years and a center to boot. I'm satisfied. I'm really noticing a corrilation with the kind of picks we are choosing- they seem to be guys that are the heart and soul of their respective teams and are great leaders. Calgary should look really promising in the next 4-5 years. Monahan is a leader, Poirier is a leader, Sieloff, Ramage, Knight, Jankowski when we drafted him out of HS- interesting.

Seriously?
There's God knows how many live cameras on the floor and the Flames are the next pick and suddenly the producer is going to insert a file film of Feaster? That's what you're going with?
How about we stick with the obvious and infinitely more likely theory: that it was well over two minutes later and Feaster's face had absolutely nothing to do with the announcement of Lindholm.
By the way, that is a pretty common facial expression for Feaster IMO. Didn't look upset at all to me - regardless of what it was he was thinking about at that moment.

No live TV production ever has ever used footage from a previous moment in time. I said he looked morose, I didn't say it was 100% because Lindholm was taken.
Being a Canadian in a Canadian city I would prefer a potential #1 center from Canada than a #1 center from Sweden if they are virtually equal. Plus I like the extra 2 inches in height that Monahan brings.

Not to mention his leadership skills- not sure where Lindholm measured up in that category. Seems to me that short or MaKinnon, the Flames got what they needed in Monahan.
When Feaster drafted Monahan, at first I was pi...ed off because:
1) Wanted to draft one of Jones/Barkov/McKinnon/Druin (unlikely I know)
2) Use to 6th to trade for Seguin
3) Draft either Lindholm or the Russian
Drafting Monahan was the last on the list. Not because do I think Monahan is a bad player, but doesn't scream "franchise player" and I really wanted us to draft/trade for one.
However, reading up on him, reading his interview, I'm starting to warm up to him. Hopefully, he becomes that #1C we've been looking for.

What if he doesn't ...perhaps he only ever reaches the level of Jordan Staal... He could still be an important part of the rebuild ... It'd be awesome if he's a legit #1C... But a good #2 would sure help too

And there would be nothing wrong with that, and I have no doubt he's gonna be a part of our rebuild. But after seeing the likes of Moss, Lundmark...centering our first line () #1 C (a legit one, ie. on most teams a #1C) is what we need the most, not a good #2.

Ah, the young people today. They don't know how good they've got it.
If you can find it, go watch some video of Jeff Shantz centring the Flames' first line. (I was a season-ticket holder back then; they couldn't find anybody better to sell them to. So I won't watch the videos with you; it triggers my PTSD.)
Those were dark days, and by dark, I mean they were carved out of obsidian, painted matte black, wrapped in light-proof shrouds, dipped in special secret dark sauce, fed to a black cat, which was fed to a black dog, which was fed to a black panther, which was put in a black gunnysack with 100 pounds of coal dust and then inserted up the rectum of a black bull, in an unlit drift 1,000 feet deep in an anthracite mine, after midnight on a foggy night with no moon.
In those days, the Calgary Flames consisted of 23 Young Guns and no bullets.

All I could find was this video of Feaster after the Lindhom selection (starts around the 3:20 mark)
They only show Feaster like 3 mins after the Lindhom selection and he seems to be keeping a stoic face because he knows the camera is on him
Looks more like Feaster had been holding something in all through the first round and finally had to let it fly free, and now he's thinking did more come out then just a terrible noxious gas and does my suit jacket hang down low enough to cover any potential damage on national t.v.
Meanwhile the assistant GM is silently cursing Jay for killing every follicle on his head with a gas attack that should have called in UN Peacekeeping force, and oh crap the camera's are on me so I better do some kind of half mona lisa smile in the face of the immense olfactory assault.

Well, I'm not old like you, , so I don't how bad it was but there is nothing good about an injury prone, third line winger, being the teams first line C.
