Size has to play in order to be effective. It is nice for the averages when guys this tall sit on the sidelines every single game, or play extremely limited minutes. Our top 9 is probably the smallest in the league and I would wager that our "size per minute" average (can anyone spend time computing this? lol) is also at the bottom of the league.
but to be fair, it includes the 4th liners and big 3rd pairing d-men on the other teams as well.

Centers centers centers. Flames only have two. Whats missing here that makes Drouin a better fit for the Flames? I get that he is uber skilled and will likely be a great prospect. Flames cannot afford to miss out on a chance to get a franchise center.
MacKinnon, Barkov, Nichushkin......Those are the three names the Flames need to scout.
They might have them track how it was won, which side each guy was on and want to know face to face info so that they can get more in depth stats for specific situations.

Yeah for centres it looks like we've got MacKinnon/Barkov at the top end with Lindholm/Monahan just below them. Not sure any of the rest look like potential #1 centres.
I didn't see the actual event, so there may be more to it, but on the highlight I saw on TSN, he didn't look like he was laughing about it. It looked to me like he was saying, "Hey coach, holding this stupid ass clipboard is going to get me hit in the head by a flying puck one of these days".
Couple that with Maher confirming he was very unhappy with not starting last night, and yeah.... I don't think he was laughing. But, I could totally be wrong.
Truthfully, it's about time a head coach gave a little less of a #### if Kipper wants to play every game.
