True. Nashville is another team of plugs but year after year they are competitive just with team defense.

I still think Yzerman ultimately did not want the Calgary job all that much, and his terms to go to Tampa were much different, than they would have been to go to Calgary. Can't blame him, Tampa had just grabbed two stud players and it's a much easier market to work in. Really Calgary is probably one of the less attractive jobs in the NHL. Especially for a first time guy who had very little managerial experience.

hindsight is 20/20. For all we know, Yzerman didn't want to come here.

Yep that's another example and another great head coach in Trotz. Not saying Hartley isn't a good coach but there simply isn't the talent or commitment on the roster to be successful playing his up tempo style of play.

Yzerman probably gets to call his own shots in Tampa while in Calgary we all know that the GM is handcuffed to an extent by ownership.

Feaster is just a placeholder for Jim Nill.

They interviewed Doan after the game and he said they play a system and it doesn't work unless all 20 players are playing it. hmmm.

Sadly I think the Flames are officially toast! At least based on my quick calculations.

In order to make the playoffs the team needs roughly 60 points, I suspect that would get them into 7th or 8th. Obviously that is not where we want to see them but that is the reality. Of the 38 remaining games we need at least 47 points to reach that 60 point threshold. Combine that with having to pass LA, Detroit, Minnesota, Colorado, San Jose, Dallas and even ####ing Edmonton.

Brutal effort by the players and even worse by the owners and managment! This season sucks!!

So instead of bringing in a coach that would make the team play together, we brought in a coach that is supposed to get the most out of his "all star players".

This team is awesome!

Look at the bright side. This is a great season to suck. We will be able to golf in one month, Iggys contract is over and he can be traded at the deadline, the top end of the draft is pretty good.

Well Brent was the coach that tried to get them to play together. It didn't work and Hartley's up tempo style won't work either. It's not the coaches it's the players like Iginla and Tanguay in particular that play like individuals.

Positive side is that this is a good season to be bad. Can hopefully cut ties with Iginla and have a new captain next season and a somewhat fresh start for this franchise.

Hmmm. Sounds like the same old problem. At some point, the old core needs to go. This would be that point, IMO. Guess who that is?

IT is NOT the coach!!! The core of this team stinks, they have played the exact same under multiple coaches. It is time that smeone other than the fans ralize that...

Yes, but his hands are tied by ownership in regards to trading the biggest problem. As long as Iggy is here, things will stay the same. If that isnt clear to some by now, then it never will be.

The difference between Phoeni/Nashville and Calgary?

The leaders of the first two teams buy into the system and are capable of playing the system.

Garbage game, garbage loss against an absolute garbage team with garbage fans. I expect better on Wednesday but lets be honest I dont care who the goalie was we weren't winning this game. Phoenix slashed their way to a win, Taylor let in 2 weak goals.

Re run your numbers. 60 points is equivalent to 102.5 over 82. And if teams like Chicago do not regress to the mean, it could skew things to lower the cutoff. More likely 54-56

not saying it's the coach's fault, but just another move that was made by this organization to "win now"
