I will take the lies, but that's just me.
I didn't read it that way....

Given that decision hasn't been made, both goaltenders needed to be placed on waivers so one can be properly assigned on Friday. All teams must have their 23-man roster submitted to the NHL by 5:00 PM EST tomorrow.
"They will either clear or be claimed by noon Eastern Time tomorrow and we'll make decisions from there," Feaster explained. "In order for us to allow that competition to continue today, we needed to be a position that tomorrow, when we have to submit the roster, we have to be able to move guys off the roster.
"We couldn't waive anybody tomorrow is the point."[/QUOTE]
Sending Irving down to work on his game is not lying. He's being upfront and honest. Especially when you consider that MacDonald will be playing most if not all games until Kipper returns. Not sure what your getting at
He is being sent down because he was pulled a few minutes in after letting in 2 on 4.
And suggesting he needs AHL games to sharpen his games makes him look stupid. He just sat in the press box for the last few months when he could have been sharpening his game.
Don't buy into the BS. The man is a snake and treats the fan base like bufoons.
It means the obvious, you don't even like the Flames, you just like to stir the pot here. Sorry if pointing out the obvious peeves you off.
You are right my 10+ years of posting here often being called a Flames homer, multiple Flames jerseys, season tickets when I live 2 hours away and often make a 4 hour round trip drive to the game, watching the team on TV for road games and buying tons of Flames gear for my kids obviously shows I am not a Flames fan.
I mean I don't agree 100% on Flames issues with you so it is clear that despite saying the exact opposite many times I must not like the Flames and want them to lose.

That makes sense. One should also remember that according to AlbertaBeef...the reason that Irving did not play in Abbotsford was he was being trained to be a backup.
Maybe be had passed his quota of 5-8 starts in Calgary....ergo he had to go back and sharpen his door opening skills.

Like your half brained theories make any more sense. My theory makes more sense than them just refusing to play him and not caring about his development like many like to speculate.
I'm sure a lot of goalies that made a living as an nhl starter had a rough go at the start of their careers. Is Leland the next Patrick Roy ? Probably not . But I don't think he can be written off just yet. Kind of weird that he was the 3rd man in the AHL. ...Unfortunately for him what skews people's opinions a little is the quality of goaltending we have gotten accustomed to with Kipper... And as far as all of the super-duper expert goaltending scouts writing off Danny Taylor before he gets to play is just dumb.....maybe he comes in and pitches 3 shutouts. Give the guy a chance first.
I said in the earlier threads on should irving start the next games that the flames needed to evaluate whether or not Irving was in the plans for next season and eventually Kippers replacement. I said it would take at least 5 games and we should play him until we know what we had in him.
So based on that I would have liked to see Irving get one more start in one of the back to backs to see how he recovers from being pulled but thats just me. Provided that the organization has now decided that Irving will not be at the NHL this season or next season or, barring significant improvement in the AHL, ever. If you thought there was a chance he could do the job this was the time to evaluate him.
So did he show he was a capable NHL backup in 5 games?
Detroit - played well with the lead, made a key save
Columbus - Shakey on 2 of 3 goals,Won inspite of Irving
Vancouver - good game but should have had the second goal which really changed the game
Minnesota - Good game but looked out classed on the lone goal and in the shootout. Might have been his best game but also the one that showed how far he is from the NHL when he was undressed in the shootout
Dallas - Not good, soft goals at momentum changing times
St. Louis - pulled after 2.
The biggest thing I saw was that he didnt show improvement over the 5 starts and still looked uncomfortable. So the basis to make a final decision on him is there. I would have liked to see one more from him but I dont think we can say this is a rush decision. I wish Leland the best but do not expect to see him back in a flames uniform.
What makes this a gong show is not that they sent Irving down, its that Kipper is 36 and yet the team has no idea or would appear to have even thought about a plan for his retiring.
Is Detroit a gongshow for not having a protege to replace Lidstrom, how about NJ with Brodeur?

I think teams that have won multiple Cups and had other appearances in the Cup finals, especially close to the end of those guys careers, might get a bit more of a pass for rolling with their top 5 of all time at their position guys.
Missing the play-offs likely 4 years in row and still riding the same goalie with no succession plan in place and no Cups to show for it might bring the ire of the fanbase up just a little more than with the other two guys.
Dubnyk was the same age as Irving last year. He at least showed signs of being a starting goaltender. He played 47 games last year with a 0.914 SV%, 0.916 before that, on a terrible Oilers team. Irving has no such resume.

Irving was 2 years younger last year. He still is.
Still don't understand the Macdonald acquisition. Taylor could be brought up to start a few and Irving could backup here - let the two young goalies give it a go without some vet breathing down their neck.
Oh that's right i forgot - thanks for reminding me Murray E - we are going to win it all this year and party like its 1989 - so we can't be patient.
If Irving has a good agent, he'll get him out of this mess.
I hoped Irving would show he could be part of the solution but it appears like most of Darryl's 1st round picks he will be shown the door under the new regime. He's going to go back to Abbotsford where Ward will promptly bury him for the rest of his tenure with the organization. I hope the kid lands on his feet and puts this organization behind him.
Feaster has hitched his wagon to Ramo and it's debatable if Irving was ever in the plans for next season anyway.
