Watch the Sens broadcast if you get a chance.
It could always be worse.

I don't mind Kerr nearly as much as Simmer. I have never heard a worse Colour Commentary. Every comment begins with "Well again . . ." Rarely are the comments enlightening. At some point in the game yesterday Simmer said something along the lines that "when the team can put the puck in the net that's really going to help the team win." Really.
It amazes me that in hockey mad Canada we can't find better broadcasters. On average, right now, I would say that most American regional broadcasts have better broadcast teams than Canadian regional broadcasts. IMO. And even the national broadcasts (CBC I am looking at you), have some pretty week talking heads these days. Colour particularly.

The PBP guy is probably the most noticeable thing when watching hockey games on television. It's not as if it's some random obscurity.

What's the point of CP if you can't complain and crap on your team.

I think the issue is with Sportsnet's sound. I watched the Buffalo vs. Pittsburgh game on NBC yesterday and they had the crowd mic'd in yet the announcers still sounded clear and crisp over the crowd noise. The announcers were not superstars by any means but they sounded better and more professional just because of the sound mixing, in my opinion.

Sorry to anyone I may have offended with my "_____ Sportsnet". I just have a serious hate on for the Rogers and Sportsnet since moving to Victoria and getting blacked out...

The picture quality on Sportsnet is irksome to me. CBC and TSN are nice and bright, the ice looks white. Sportsnet is so dark in comparison.

Nah...they are clearly a friend or family of Kerr due to the blind devotion.

There are a lot of reasons to hate Sportsnet, but that isn't one of them. It is the NHL that sets the blackout rules.

I actually think Simmer has some decent insight into the goal scoring part of the game, but I do agree that he is quite dry at times.

I guess my point is - Kerr is not the best, he is not the worst (and would argue he is on the front side of the bell curve compared to all other hockey pbp guys).
There are lots of pbp guys that annoy me, Kerr is not one of them.
I think that there are some here who have nothing better to do than point out everyone else's shortcomings, and that annoys the hell out of me.

Anyone know why they got rid of Millions? I don't particularly care about the PBP (I actually enjoyed that season when the CBC people were on strike and they showed games without any commentary) but I thought he did a competent job.

That's probably your providers problem. The cameras are probably the same for all the productions.

Maybe I'm biased but Simmer is pretty even in his thoughts compared to the Canucks broadcast I was watching the other night.

I find that when watching on HD Sportsnet or HD Gamecentre, they are both lower quality than Hockeystreams.com HD feed. The 1080p really makes a difference on higher quality TV's.

I want Hughson. As long as the Canucks aren't playing he's the best there is.

Who was the guy on the panel during intermissions? He was sitting in the middle.
