So you're saying she shouldn't post the article if she thinks another issue is also important?
Or that she should alter the headline to meet her exact opinion?
I mean, this whole internet police thing you're presenting is ridiculous. It's a current event, the headline is copied exactly from the article, and she also gave her personal opinion.
It comes across to me (and many other I would suspect) as you are a huge PC supporter and are doing anything and everything to distract from the article and issues raised and instead attack a poster on a personal level.

HAHAHAHA, dude I've never even voted in an Alberta election. I couldn't tell you a single thing about the PC platform. Are they pro gay marriage? I have no idea. Good for big oil or bad for big oil? Again, no idea.
My only issue is the 'who me?' act.

A perfectly good opportunity to make fun of Edmonton, Daryl Katz and the Oilers ruined by politics.

You do have to admit that generally you are anti-conservative and pro-liberal... and I'm not talking parties here.

I've always just wanted to hear it from the horses mouth directly. The whole 'who, me?' schitck she uses to when creating threads with these types of topics is getting comical. Also, not sure why she can't just create an 'All-Encompassing Wildrose Alliance Thread' or 'All-Encompassing Anti-PC Thread' and then post topics like these in there... you know, just to have one thread for all of them.
|
What's comical is your obsession with trying to get her to admit to what she's says she isn't. Also your suggestions on what threads/topics she should create. I'd suggest you move on before you become too frustrated.
I supported the WRP and still do. Will you now be accusing me of having an agenda?

So what's your agenda then? I demand to know, just like you demand to know hers....fair is fair afterall.
Is it just to hound FL? If so, that's extremely petty and very childish.
Is it some obscure reason you wont share with everyone...and if so, if that answer is good enough for you, would it be good enough for her?
Lets hear it man.

The 300,000 was 11 donations, not 10 as one might assume. But yes, there are unanswered questions about what happened to the other $130,000.00
I did a bit of digging and this is what I came up with.

I don't care what's good for you Tran-o my boy, that's for sure. I originally posted in here to say that its another anti-PC rant from FL. Then, I wanted to call her out on her pro-WRA stance. My agenda, at the moment, was to have her admit that was her agenda. For someone as pro-WRA as her, she sure has a hard time coming out and saying it directly. I just want to hear her say it. No harm in that. I'm not expecting it tho, that's for sure. And frankly the longer she doesn't say anything, the more it just proves to me that she has a pro WRA agenda and is embarrassed to admit it directly.
So at this point, its done with. So there's my agenda. And I really don't give a crap if you don't agree with it, Tran-o. I'd ask you what your agenda is, but unlike you, I don't care in the slightest.

A good editorial by thompson in the Edmonton journal suggests that these donations virtually guarantee that no provincial money will go to the arena now.
Also interesting that David staples, another columnist, is back on the pro Katz team after a momentary moment away.

You dont care so much...that you typed all that out eh? Laughable....and so transparent.
And "Tran-o"? Really?
Your agenda is to see someone else admit their agenda...hmmm....strange at the very least and creepy too.
So FL is pro WRA...so what? Will you feel better about yourself if someone admits their political leanings? If so, here go enjoy your day...im very pro WRA.
Thing is its all to obvious what your issues are, but you wont admit it...yet you insist others do. Double standards are fun eh?

I must say, technically legal or not, I'm glad it's getting play as something that doesn't pass the sniff test. I would expect that the purpose of maximum contribution rules is to try to avoid big donors having too much influence over political decisions, and now people are watching.

Exactly. Or at least "perceived influence"
It's not unheard of where similar companies will make large donations and encourage others to do so.
For example: Oil companies at the provincial level; and land developers, home builders at the civic level.
It is unusual though to see so many (13+?) all with close ties to one, make such large contributions.

And I think it would be different if they were consistent donors as well. Instead it comes across as they drop a huge donation only when they are looking for $100 million.
The optics stink, especially when coupled with the government being called out over election double talk on mla transition allowances and Redford claiming no "direct" money for the arena.

Buying influence or perceived influence is hardly specific to the PCs though. I would submit that a large part of the reason why the Wildrose raised as much money as they did was because they were leading the polls (by some accounts) or at least polling higher than expected.
Look at Nenshi in the municipal campaign. Donors in favour of the airport tunnel were on his list, pretty clearly because they wanted the tunnel built. That doesn't mean there is impropriety there or any potential wrong doing....its just part of how the game is played.

I agree....my only problem in this particular instance is Redford claiming repeatedly that she didnt know where the money came from...literally a quarter of all donations from one source and she didnt have any idea? I just wont and dont buy it.
And the way she denied it had one singular quote come to mind...
" The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

And if she knew, what are the ramifications exactly? Its only an issue if something illegal took place, right?
