I offered Erat for Wideman which is a fair offer. You want Callahan for Wideman which is laughable.
Buyer beware.

Both offers seem OK to me. Erat for Wideman is fair - I'd probably want a little something added to Erat (like a 3rd), and in turn Wideman for Callahan isn't an outrageous starting point either, though I agree SJ would have to add something.
But neither offer is unreasonable. Sounds like both GMs have simply dug in their heels.

I see Wideman as a 1 dimensional player who is older with less years on his contract. Callahan on the other hand is muti dinensional, a leader and captain on his team. He can score, block shots and is very defensively responsible.
If I trade Callahan, Wideman is not the D I am looking for.

Which is fine. Everyone likes players differently. But I think GMs are too quick to deem an offer as rubbish. Personally I don't like Erat and would not trade Wideman for him, but that doesn't mean your offer of Erat was terrible.

It wasn't terrible, he even admitted it was fair he just doesn't like him. It's no big deal and I am just obviously not willing to pay the asking price. Players like Wideman are a dime a dozen IMO, guys like Callahan are not. Again, just my opinion.

If Wideman is a dime a dozen and Erat is worth as much as a Wideman, therefore Erat's a dime a dozen! I will give you $10,000 in cap space for just one Erat. That's...uh....$10,000 / ($0.10/12)...1,200,000 times what he's worth! Let me know.

Thanks for taking a shot at me with that buyer beware crap. I find you aggravating to deal with when you don't get what you want in a trade and try to convince me to do something I don't want to do and you don't let up; it's the same aggravation I feel when some religious fanatic or crazy conspiracy theorist corners me and tries their brainwashing spiel to convince me to think exactly like they do. I am an independent thinker so you won't be convincing me of anything, so save your breath.

Thanks for your posts in this thread Jiri. I was obviously kidding when I said it was better than MJKs offer, it was meant in good fun. Jiri, your thoughts and valuations above are pretty much exactly how I feel about it although I never dug my heels in, I just don't like Erat. MJKs logic was that Erat and Wideman have the same rating, similar contract, and are of similar age so the deal is fair and so in turn I used the exact same logic when countering with Callahan as their ratings are the same, their contracts are similar, and there is about the same age difference between Wideman/Erat as there is between Wideman/Callahan; so using MJKs logic, it should be fair.
I am ok if he doesn't want to do the deal, just like it should be ok if I don't want to with Erat. The difference is I'm not going to try and corner someone, pretend I can do Jedi mind tricks, and try to bring them over to the "dark side".

You didn't have to bring my name up in this thread...you did and I responded. You should have been prepared for that. The next time you bring my name up in a thread and insinuate I made a bad offer you better be prepared to deal with my responce. I can post pictures too you know.
Thanks for your time.

It was a joke and meant in good fun to build camaraderie, it's not a problem with anyone else, all the other GMs seem to be here to enjoy themselves and make things fun for other GMs at the same time.

It's too quiet around here these days, someone had to do something. Now, this is a trade block thread so who wants Duchene?

Tim Stapleton is on the block. Looking for a similar player, preferably a winger. PM works best.
