I'm looking not at the chemistry, but his finish. You can't discount the kid for his offensive talent. He knows where he should be, he knows how to get there, and he puts it in the net. Every shot of his is a good scoring chance. Doesn't that remind you of a certain Calgary Flames captain? He is a shooter that doesn't just label it for a goalies breadbasket, but picks corners and finds the holes. You can't teach that.
Along side someone who can set up like Baertchi and you see point totals like Rattie has put up. I'm quite confident that Rattie would work out well with someone like Tanguay as well.

That's fine, if you want to get him because of what you see as an individual, that's cool. I've just seen too many posts wanting to get Rattie because of his chemistry with Baerschi.

Patrick Kane and Sam Gagner are a good example. Great linemates both putting up 100+ points a season, drafted five spots apart in 2007...Kane has translated his success to the NHL while Gagner has been a 2nd line guy at best, a dud at worst.
Quite often in junior one guy can carry a whole line and make his mates look good. Right now Baertschi is making Rattie look a whole lot better.

He is a one sided player, but maybe Calgary could use a one sided player like him. We currently have far, far too many jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none players. It is far more common to find a playmaker than it is to finda pure goal scorer. The fact that we have a great playmaker that happens to play well with Rattie is just butter.
Maybe it's like 90% me wanting Rattie for Rattie and 10% me wanting Rattie for chemistry...

Nice defensive play by Baertchi too. Ranford is pretty fast and Sven caught him. Nice.

Rattie from Sven a minute after Sven from Rattie, and we have a 3-3 tie.

Calling gagner a dud is kind of weird. I hold any player who ties records with Gretzky and coffee with a fair amount of respect. Even if that player happens to be an oiler.

When a guy is a career 50-point guy (and his junior linemate is an 80-point guy who won the Stanley Cup already), it has to be a disappointment for a 6th overall pick.
It doesn't matter how well he did in one game.

Rattie and Baertschi are now top 2 in WHL playoff scoring.
Rattie has 12 goals, 4 assists; Sven has 3 goals and 11 assists.
Post-game edit: Rattie has 12 goals, 5 assists; Sven has 3 goals and 12 assists.

Very disappointing by the Blazers - had the game in hand and were containing the top line, but completely fell apart in the 3rd.
Will need to win game 2 to come home with a split. Hopefully they learn quick from this.

4 unanswered goals for the Winterhawks in the 3rd to win it 5-3.
4 point game for Sven.
In 5 games, Portland has scored 26 goals. Rattie has 17 points, and Baertschi has 15.

My problem with this whole line of thinking is this: At this point in time Rattie's stock is extremely high, and it would be very costly to target him in a trade. I am fairly certain that the Flames would end up overpaying, and badly. It has been mentioned before that Ryan Howse is potentially a similar player to Rattie, and could arguably be just as effective playing with Baertschi. Granted, he does not have the juniour numbers to match, but he also played on a line with late round draft picks Kevin Sundher and Roman Horak. In my opinion, Rattie is the kind of player you draft. You do not acquire him before he breaks into the NHL in a trade.

And that right there is the biggest reason holding me back from wanting to trade for him, and I conpletely agree with you.

What about a severe over payment for Sven?
