I can't wait to see how he does during the preseason, with established NHLers. I think he'll do better in the preseason than this tournament.

Agreed ^ and simply because of the players he will be surrounded with.

He flourished in the game against Vancouver with speedy Byron. Makes me very excited for when he's paired up with other NHLers in the exhibitions.

Hindsight is always 20/20 though and I am sure the people who doubted are basking in the current glory that Johnny Hockey is showing along with the very few who suggested he would get this far at 5'6 137 lbs when he was drafted.

I didn't necessarily doubt him I was just more or less shocked by his size at the time yet intrigued by his numbers. I loved the poster who was a player from the Saints, he knew all about Johnny and he obviously had a good idea about him. So glad we have Johnny, he still has a road ahead of him but it's looking brighter by the day.
I was referring to the ones that said It was a waste of a pick.

I'm going a bit out on a limb here, but he reminds me of Datsyuk.

I liked the comparison made on the fan 960 today to Zack Psrise.

There is little room for doubt here. Gaudreau is pretty clearly the better player.
I'm not disagreeing with you. But my main point is everything you said has yet to be fully substantiated with NHL numbers. You illustrated it yourself with words such as 'likely' and 'almost'. Perhaps it's just a different interpretation on the usage of the word 'hindsight'. That's totally fine, thanks for clarifying St. Croix's development for me. Still I don't understand why that would warrant a relatively unfriendly first response from you.

Really, after that butt kicking, he still says that? I take that as a shot at the flames and a lack I high end talent. Silly comment to make on a dual broadcast.
I think that was just a prepared neutral comment that you're reading way to much into

Well I don't think it's much of a limb as I have been comparing him to Datsyuk since his rookie BC season. As have others.

Never heard of him. Sounds like a bust.

Sorry about that. I did not perceive my first response to you to be unfriendly. I guess that you could read it that way through my sense of incredulity. Apologies again.

Going back and mocking people for thinking this wasn't a good pick is kind of a dick move. I'm pretty sure if most people are honest, no one expected him to develop like this. Let's not try to act like fortune tellers now.

Yeah but that also means we shouldn't just jump to conclusions about how it's a wasted pick etc. Its nice to take a wait and see approach before coming up with all these conclusions etc.

Not too many speak in absolutes. "I don't see him making any impact" is different than "waste of a pick"

Honestly, in the end, what's the difference.
