I got mine at Fan Attic and it has foam under the side that goes against the window. It doesn't make any sound other than the flag flapping abit.

City hosts away game viewing parties for Calgary Flames' playoff run

Mayor Naheed Nenshi said the city will host viewing parties at Olympic Plaza for every away game.

With video screens, food trucks and giveaways, Nenshi said the city-sponsored events will have a more “family friendly” feel compared to rowdier revellers on 17th Avenue, affectionately known as the Red Mile.

The viewing events will get going one hour before puck drop for each away game, starting with Monday’s Game 3 in Denver.

As for home games, the Flames will have a suite of activities at Stampede Park for fans unable to score tickets who are still looking for some playoff action.

Parking Lot 3 on the Stampede grounds will transform into the “Red Lot” three hours before every home game. Admission is free and for all ages, and fans in attendance can watch the games live on a giant big screen. There will also be live music performances, face painting, food and drink specials, and even special appearances by Harvey the Hound.

Meanwhile, local celebrity and star of FUBAR series Terry Cahill will host the Red House Playoff Launch Party on Thursday [at Big Four Roadhouse], kicking off the first round with drinks, prizes and post-game performances by Calgary’s own Smalltown DJ’s and The Dudes.

Huge long shot but during the 04 run a Tampa reporter did a segment on Calgary and the 04 run. The lady reporter was being shown around downtown by a Calgarian who worked for the city or tourism Calgary. They had a rental car with a Lightning flag on it and after her tour of downtown they returned to the car and it was stolen (the flag, not the car).

Without missing a beat, the Calgary tourism lady went on to point out how Calgarians are polite and that they managed to steal the flag without damaging the car. It was hilarious.

I’ve been trying to find it for years with no luck. Does anyone else remember this? Is it online somewhere? I’m 99% sure it’s nowhere to be found but you never know. I seem to recall it being replayed on CTV or Global. Maybe they’ve uploaded it somewhere.

Can’t help, but my recollection from those days preceding the Cup run was the Edmonton radio station that held a Flames merchdise burning party for all the eaily impressionable folks up there that hopped on the bandwagon and cheered for the Flames but then regretted it.

Flames fans well behaved on Red Mile after Game 1 win

The mid-April snowstorm didn’t dampen the postgame party as hundreds of fans spilled onto 17 Ave after the game.

Chants of “Go Flames Go” echoed along the avenue throughout the celebration.

Police said the crowd was well-behaved and other than a three-vehicle collision at 17 Ave and 4 St SW, there were no major incidents.

I recall someone posting about 3x5 flags — the Fan Attic had retro ones as well as “Bring the Red, 2019 Playoffs” ones for sale. Very timely
