Oh and here's a question. Are DJ's musicians???

If they are strictly just playing songs, fading in and out I personally don't consider them musicians. Entertainers yes, musicians no.

Until today I don't think I've ever heard somebody say that Outkast sucks. I've heard people say that there are better groups than them but never someone say that they flat-out suck. Definitely possible best unpopular music opinion in this entire thread.

Yeah, I know people who don't like Outkast. I've never heard someone say Outkast sucks.

Their early work Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik and ATLiens are mediocre if passable albums that heavily bite on other artists of the time. Essentially they are EPMD with awful pop-style chorus hooks, and an attempt at wry-lyricism in the vein of Digital Underground without nearly enough wit.

1998's Aquemini comes the closest to being an acceptable album, but still relies heavily on Outkast's "rap, with a lame twist" style.

Stankonia might possibly be the worst "rap" album of 2000-2005. It's friggin' terrible.

Speakerboxxx would be utterly forgettable if not for the absolutely terrible crossover ear-worm "Hey Ya!" which turned Outkast from an annoying group that occasionally got play on rap radio or Yo! MTV to basically the Nickelback of rap.

I wish we had a vomit emote.

Are you forgetting how atrocious this period was for rap? Remember, Encore by Eminem came out during this period. Holy crap is that ever a turd of an album. And Chingy. And Nelly. And blah blah blah. I'm not a huge fan of Stankonia, but it's not even in the conversation of worst albums from that period.

To be fair I did qualify it with "might possibly"

The worst album from that period in reflection is probably either Mystikal - Tarantula, or Will Smith - Willenium.

Chingy's Powerballin' coming up a close third.

Pretty much every touring DJ is also a producer who puts out albums of original music.

That period of rap wasn't even close to being the worst. MMLP, Blueprint, Black Album, Eminem Show, Stillmatic, College Dropout, Late Registration. In the underground you had albums like God Loves Ugly, Madvillainy, Many Faces of Oliver Hart, Deltron 3030, The Cold Vein. 2006-2010 was waaaay worse.

When did 50 Cent come out? I feel like that was the worst for me.

All you have to do is look at Youtube hits to see that rock music in general is not really a force there days. Even the biggest rock acts of the day like Foo Fighter and Jack White, only get a fraction of hits compared to pop, hip hop and electronic music.

When you see someone like Miley Cyrus with over 600 million hits and then see Jack White with 2 million, it seems crazy to me.

2001. His first album is actually good if you ignore "In da Club". A lot of great hip hop artist where around during that time.

There's tons of innovative EDM out there. That's why there's a new genre or style of EDM that emerges every year or two.

It's just whatever the big room crowd latches on to ends up being overdone and copied and redone until it grows stale. Right now it looks like "Tropical House" will be what takes over as the flavor of the month for Big Room.

blarg, Tropical House is a farce genre, I refuse to accept that playing chillout music with a House tempo is a new genre.

True but at least it's different. Not Kygo's fault that no one thought of taking Cocojumbo and making it more house-esque.

I'm just trying to say that EDM isn't stagnant or stale like for example, todays rock music. It's still changing quite a bit. Tropical House is one thing but guys like Flume, Porter Robinson, Major Lazer, The Chainsmokers (not #Selfie) and Robin Schulz are all taking EDM in cool interesting directions.
