@JeffPassan:
Tyler Zombro, a Triple-A pitcher for Tampa Bay who was hit by a line drive in an awful-looking incident earlier tonight, is in stable condition at Duke University Hospital, according to the team.

Great article in Sports Illustrated about pitchers using more and more high end sticky products to produce insane spine rates which is leading to the worst offensive season in baseball basically ever.
Typical MLB though. Do nothing about pitchers using foreign substances for decades = tacit approval of foreign substances, introduce new baseballs that are less grippy with smaller seams, and boom, every pitcher is using gorilla glue on their fingers now.

San Francisco Giants, start run of 15 straight vs. losing records Tuesday in Texas. But Longoria out 4-6 weeks with shoulder sprain.

deGrom is genuinely having one of the greatest seasons in the history of the sport. Just drove in two runs to get back to having more RBIs than ERA on the season. Pretty much must see TV every start now.

I have no problem with this whatsoever. If you don't want him to hit a grand slam, pitch better.
If it's the 9th inning, and you have the SS throwing some pitches, then okay, batters can ease up a bit. But not in the 1st inning.

The John Means' no-hitter for the Orioles against Seattle in Seattle was on May 5. That is also the last road game the Orioles have won. 18 straight road losses and counting.
Even worse. MadBum's no-hitter that wasn't (you know, the seven-inning variety because of the double header rules) in Atlanta was on April 25th. That is also the last road game the D-Backs have won. 21 games and counting. Down 6-2 early tonight to the Giants which would make 22.

Snitker was not pleased with Acuña Jr. after he was thrown out trying to leg out a triple in the 9th last night. His continuous mismanagement of the bullpen should be the bigger story instead of always throwing your franchise under the bus anytime he makes a mistake.
Now Acunas dad basically called him and La Russa *dumb and old * in a deleted Instagram post in Spanish. When you have your franchises player’s family going off about it, that’s bad.

How about those DBacks? 16 straight losses overall, have lost 22 straight road games, and are 5-39 in their last 44 games. Gonna need another 44 game stretch like that to have a real shot at the worst record in MLB history, but dare to dream!

Yeah, like I said above, the D-Backs and the Orioles haven't won a road game since their no-hitters.
The Pirates have also lost 14 road games in a row.

MLB foreign substance crackdown kicks off today. Will we see anything come of it? I'm guessing we see a few ejections today. It'll be like the slide into second rule where the first few days had a lot of calls about it early on and then everyone adjusted and it's not really an issue anymore. If we don't see an ejection today, I'll think they let something slide rather than zero pitchers trying to get away with something.

Sergio Romo was checked for a foreign substance and proceeded to drop his glove, his hat, his belt AND his pants. Lmao.
Rob Manfred is the worst commissioner in sports.

Yet it’s working, just the threat of this happening dropped spin rates back to 2017 levels and offense immediately rebounded. Do they have room to make the procedure better sure, but getting spin rates back under control is going to lead to more enjoyable baseball.
