That seems crazy...unless there is some non-guaranteed cap shenanigan's aspect to it.

The Tennessee Titans are planning to release wide receiver Julio Jones, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini on Wednesday.
Jones was signed through the 2024 season. It is likely he will be released with a post-June 1 designation, giving the Titans $9.5 million in salary-cap savings.
The Titans acquired Jones last year along with a 2023 sixth-round draft pick from the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for a 2022 second-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick. The move was supposed to provide much-needed balance to Tennessee's passing attack.

Wonder how much he has left.
Was the best in the biz for a while.

I would imagine the old "voidable years" is why it's six years. Based off the guarantees it looks more like a three year, $60 million deal.

In expected news, Seattle's owner basically lets it drop in her farewell message to Wilson, that Wilson wanted out of Seattle.
Wilson says it was mutual...well of course it is if you're gone.
He will help the Broncos, may even win a Superbowl if the stars align and he just plays football and not worry about controlling things that he shouldn't be trying to control, but he wasn't winning it in Seattle with too much going on behind the scenes that he was or wanted to be involved in, and his big contract which crippled the team in other facets didn't help either.

Deshaun Watson really needs to just pick a team today. Even him getting courted this much by this many teams feels kinda gross given all the allegations.
In somewhat related news, I'm not saying he's going to New Orleans - the longer this goes, the less likely I think that is - but after more restructures this morning, Saints are now roughly $30 million under the salary cap. To go from $77 million over the cap to $30 million under it without cutting anybody and signing a new safety is hilarious lol.

If you draft well and are still getting production out of the players you restructure, you're fine, but eventually the bill comes due. The Eagles are a prime example of doing it the wrong way.

Browns are out. Be interesting to see where they go now, Jimmy G would seem the logical choice

Panthers have been informed they're out of the Watson race too, it's down to Saints or Falcons. And Falcons have reportedly said if he hasn't decided by today, they're out too - Matt Ryan is due a $7.5 million roster bonus tomorrow. It sure seems like we'll know Watson's new team at some point today.
EDIT: apparently the Panthers being out was incorrect, they're still in play. So much misinformation and sources racing to be first with the news, that things get erroneously reported.

The fact the Falcons are even in this is incredible to me. They aren't quite a Texans-level dumpster fire, but they aren't much better off. Texans at least have their cap situation in good shape, Falcons are devoid of talent and have a bad cap situation.

Oh I know, it's ridiculous. It's because he's from the area and used to be the ball boy for the Falcons for 4 years, he apparently idolized Michael Vick growing up. Nostalgia and the "going home" factor is the only play they have...which apparently is working. But does he really want to play on that roster? It's basically the NFC version of the Texans.

The Mayfield stuff is pretty funny.
He was great in 2020 and his play was a big reason people thought the Browns looked to be on the rise.
Then in 2021 he played through a torn labrum that occured in game 2, three shoulder dislocations, a fracture to his humerus, a knee injury, and a groin injury.
Now the team wants to cut ties with him.
Honestly just a lesson to the young players in the NFL. Don't play injured, because there is no loyalty to you at all in that league and all you're actually doing is hurting your own value/career.

It would be peak Browns to spend 20+ years in the QB wilderness, finally have a guy show some potential, chase a higher end QB to replace him, but miss, run the guy with potential out of town, and then end up playing the Jimmy G's of the world, thus re-entering QB purgatory.

And reportedly the Browns have said they refuse to honour Baker's request...what a mess lol. All this to be in on the Watson sweepstakes for less than 24 hrs

The kicker for all of this of course would be Baker goes to another teams and becomes elite.
