Fair, but I cannot stand them due to having so many relatives in the Ottawa Valley (from before the Sens) that are just about as insufferable as Oiler fans.

Mavi Diary - Day 20
Dear diary.
Let’s talk about contracts. Mine. It’s really just a question of time; like how long I want to pay for Lauren’s bar’s losses. How long do I pay?
For me…it’s time. I’m max money babee and it’s really about how much I want to piss Leon off. Here’s my thinking. He has signed already and the way the cap is going, before the end of his contract I expect that ELCs will be paid more than Leon’s salary. For oilers, this isn’t an issue since we don’t have any young players so maybe GM Stan is smarter than we all think.
Here’s what I’m thinking…
0 years no new contract - 1 more year in Edmonton!
1 year - 2 years in Edmonton but new max money.
2 years - max money! And then another new contract with more max money!
Yeah, I’m not going to go longer. I do need the nhl to get that right of way law passed though. It can apply to the ice and contracts. Just give me the money!
It is funny. I’m thinking that I should be able to double Leon’s salary if the cap keeps going up! Imagine Leon on 14 and I’m on 28! I’m worth it though.
I’m going to suggest that Lauren double the drink prices. Until I get this contract done, Lauren is going to have to pay her own way.
Tomorrow diary!

It's not going to happen, but I relish the thought of Oiler lurkers reading us discussing it.

I hate all this talk about McDavid in Calgary. I'd rather finish out of the playoffs than have one of my most hated players on the team.
I cannot imagine any scenario where he would choose to leave Edmonton and choose Calgary over all the other suitors.
McDavid is no good. Let him wind up in Toronto or in the US somewhere.

I'd actually love to see him in a big US market where he might help grow the game, and maybe even his personality. Sort of like when Gretzky went to LA and NY - why not have the games biggest star showing off in it's biggest markets? If I'm an owner that's what I'd want just to increase all the franchise values if nothing else.

McDavid being drafted by the Oilers was one of the worst things that could have happened to the NHL in regards to promoting the league. Ideally he would have gone to a large US market as it would have been a big name to sell to Americans as a household name like Lemieux or Lindros.

His being in Edmonton has been great for the Florida market.

Actually, that was a typo. It should have read natural as an adjective and not natural gas as a noun. A gas odor in Edmonton is natural.

Mavi Diary - Day 21
Dear diary. You know that feeling when you know something is up but you can’t figure it out (kinda like how I kick my skates high in the air from modest shoulder contact)?
Lauren bought ALOT of stuff for the bar. So much that she had it stored on our rooftop patio. Lenard I think, but it could have been Leon imitating the Oilers fanbase, has been taking leaks against the boxes! It smelled too much like Rogers Place so I got rid of the boxes and setup the natural gas heaters, some tables, some chairs.
We hosted a few oilers and some of Lauren’s friends and I was a dutiful house owner and showed them to specific tables. There were so many guests that I had to ask people to please wait to be seated! I asked what people wanted to drink and brought it up from downstairs. Every so often people would ask me to grab a fresh drink or ice or some snacks…no problem. I put on some New Kids On The Block (Leon and my theme songs) and everyone was having a good time.
Well, Edmonton bylaw wrote me up for operating a bar without a license. I did a couple of photos with my best “meh” expression so that I could avoid the tickets, and damn girl (I told Lauren) I looked interested! The camera can lie because I wasn’t.
I’m trying to remember where everyone was sitting because they only left me a couple of dollars in tips and some crappy ratings on yelp.
Laters diary.

Rumor mill in Chicago has goaltending prospect, who filed for arbitration, Arvid Soderblom going to the Greasers for a pick or two.

Do they have any picks of value left to trade?

They have a box of toothpicks… and only half a box of teeth. Does that help?

Everyone seems to think the oilers are going to acquire one of these goalies that become available but it doesn’t seem to be happening. Looking more and more like the Oilers plan to either roll it back again with the same tandem as last year or wait to get permission to sign Hart. Oilers gonna Oil.
