At least Denis lost to Shelton. Felix got smoked by a guy outside of the top 50. He needs to get a new coach so bad as he's wasting prime development years. Not sure what it's going to take for him to realize things aren't working with Fontang.

Yeah, Felix should have made the coaching change two years ago, the run of good form he had in the fall of 2022 extended the relationship with Fontang well past its best before date.

Jakub Mensik with a great win over Bweh in Shanghai. Now up to a career high ranking of 59, he's certainly a guy to watch in 2025.

Leylah with a hard fought three set win overnight versus Diana Shnaider in Wuhan. It's Leylah's first singles win since Cincinnati where she also beat Shnaider.

Has a player every sewered their entire career without changing coaches? I just don't understand what's going on there. It's been two years where he's not made any progress with Fontang so I'm not exactly sure what Felix expects to change sticking with the same coach.

I can appreciate the loyalty up to a certain point, but if your career development is stagnating, you need to pull the trigger on this change. Also interesting to note that Matt Daly who Coco just brought on board used to coach Shapo.

I tried pickle for the first time recently...and it was super fun I was hitting lines and corners like prime Federer, I think I understand the appeal now. But it's still the worst racquet sport for spectators, by far.

I've played it a few times, but in all honesty, I can't stand the sound of the paddle smacking the pickleball. It is fun to play, but as you stated Jack, just a terrible sport to watch. It's not going away anytime soon though, the popularity of the sport continues to grow.

Aside from every court being taken, the first thing apparent to me was that pickle atmosphere...camping chairs, portable speakers blasting, laughter and trash talk intermingled with the sharp smacking sounds. Pretty evenly split between men and women, age ranges from 20's to 70's. The tennis courts nearby...had two people on it and was dead silent, tumbleweeds and all. That part made me sad that I had become part of the problem. So I used my Hugh Clarke approved forehand to spin another whiffle ball into the corner for a winner to make myself feel better.

So at 5-5 in the 3rd set tie-break, the umpire took away Big Foe's first serve for a serve clock violation. Frances argued that he tossed the ball up in the air indicating that he was in his service motion prior to the time expiring, but the umpire didn't buy it. Frances went on to lose that point and then Safiullin won the next point and the match.

Not to be outdone, the domestic abuser had a tantrum with Mo Lahyani...Another clear double bounce situation and Zverev knows he didn't get it clean. Such an entitled brat

I like Tiafoe but you can't talk to an umpire like that on the court in front of everyone. It's just not professional and at the end of the day he's at fault as he was clearly trying to buy himself a few extra seconds. It's one of those things where too many players milk the clock to the last few seconds and if you play with fire sometimes you are going to get burned. Umpires can't pick and choose when or what player to implement the violation so I'm fine with him calling it regardless of the timing in the match.

Yeah, when you compare and contrast how Felix handled the Draper situation in Cincinnati where he would have been legitimately justified in tearing a strip off Greg Allensworth to Frances earlier today, it's not a good look for Frances at all. The other key difference was it was match point for Felix, all that happened to Tiafoe was a loss of a first serve.
