Or it could be that the players just weren't available, having other commitments seeing as it is a Sunday.

... which doesn't mean they think we lost the deal, as that control wasn't available to us. Tkachuk signing as part of the deal created value that was distributed between the Flames and the Panthers. Pretty easy for the trade to be win/win when you're creating 8 years of signed Tkachuk.

He is very good at trades, I would even say one of the better GMs in the league.
He has also learned his lessons in free agency. People seem to forget that Brad was a rookie GM when he took on the role here. To say he hasn't improved the team throughout his tenure would be nonsense.
If ever it doesn't work out here he won't go unemployed for long. Tree is a good GM period.

Knowing Air Canada, Flames got a notification probably that both players were enroute, but with all the airport snafus, it was actually their luggage on the plane, with the players still out east.

Once for all, Treliving has discredited the old adage that the team that won the trade is the team that got the best player.
The team that won the trade is the team that didn't deal Matthew Tkachuk to the Oilers or leafs. Him playing for Edmonton or Toronto would have been insufferable.

If he has indeed learned his lessons, will be interesting to see what they do with these two pending UFA’s.

I bring the case of Tavares again for those who want a reference to an aging player paid a lot. We have to learn from all our past mistakes.

I'd rather them commit 8 years then take him into the season unsigned. Much for optionality going forward.

I view it as a good learning lesson. Sometimes you have to trade quality to get the pieces you want. Traveling seems loyal to the players but almost losing a player for nothing and then having to make the deal at the last minute is not an ideal situation. I think he will be bettwr for it and we are lucky to come out on top.

He has freedom of speech but he is personally accountable for what he says with that speech - his legacy is just as accountable, especially when said speech is used to vocally support convicted figures who spread hate information and hate speech.

Yes, he’s entitled to his views no problem at all, just like the Flames are entitled to distance themselves as far from his as possible.
Giving him any type of platform these days would make the Flames look extremely foolish

And corporations are allowed to make decisions for things that occur on their property and their public image also.
