even the bottom teams get more TV money than Bayern Munich for example. They'll be fine.

All I can think is the richer clubs must ponder what could be if they negotiated their own TV deals. If the Lakers and Dodgers are worth $250 million a year, I would think Arsenal or United or Liverpool could command similar or even higher. It's probably why they keep talking about the big teams breaking away to form a super league. That would probably be utterly stupid money.

BBC article on why Ibrahimovic makes sense for United from a financial standpoint, even if they pay him crazy wages.

Quote:
Football finance expert Rob Wilson believes the 34-year-old would be United's most marketable player since Cristiano Ronaldo and linking up with the three-time European champions would be a "match made in heaven".

Wilson says Ibrahimovic's shirt sales alone would cover the costs of finishing fifth this season and missing out on the riches of playing in Europe's elite competition, worth up to £50m.

"It would not surprise me if Zlatan sold more shirts than Ronaldo or Lionel Messi," said Wilson, a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University. "The cost of missing out on the Champions league is £30-50m, Zlatan will help plug that gap significantly with the number of shirts shifted by United."

Don't the makers of the shirts get the money from the sales?

The clubs get the up front money annually mostly, like United for £75 million per from adidas, and Barcelona is rumored to be getting a new Nike deal for even more than that. Just money everywhere for the big clubs.

Yeah, Real's new deal is at 106 million pounds a year (which is insanity), so I'm sure the new Barcelona one will be a bit higher.

Do the clubs get paid by the letter? Because then that might make sense.

If he can convince anyone to wear those terrible shirts with the giant Chevrolet logo plastered across the front then he has to be worth it! Those are easily the worst looking in the entire league, and I don't mean that because its United. Whoever decided the giant gold logo in the middle was a good idea was even more daft than whoever selected a red logo in the middle of Spurs home shirt.

The Champions do get the most prize money (i.e. Merit Payment). The table that Pagal shared shows the distribution of league revenue of which prize money is only 16%.

Apparently the delay in hiring Mourinho, is over his personal sponsors, being in potential conflict with the clubs sponsors.

Mourinho needs to fall in line: show up to the presser in a Corvette, with three stripes on the side, while using Aon professional services to determine if he should keep Giggs or not.

Rafa signs with Newcastle. He'll be managing in the Championship next season. Wow. Good for Newcastle, I'm surprised hes cool with that.

Sure.
And van Gaal was doing an ok job, was a decent fit, United had a decent season under him and he deserved another year. And that Chicarito is garbage. Not to mention, let's give credit to vG for getting rid of di Maria but let's forget that he was the one that brought him in in the first place.
:P

man, I miss Chicharito. And Rafael those guys genuinely loved the club and should have never been forced out.

The Chicharito thing still amazes me. Sell him because "he's not good enough", then let Fellaini and Young play as strikers. Unbelievable stuff. At least Mourinho will let players play in their actual position.

I want to see Fellaini elbow Mourinho in the face.
