Looking at Stamkos? Giving up Sam Bennett? What is Sportsnet smoking?
Holy chicken little syndrome.

For Stamkos it would probably take Monahan. But I'm thinking he's probably off limits except under the most extreme circumstance.
Perhaps what it would take is Bennett, Wideman or Russell, a 1st and a 2nd for Stamkos (and maybe a bad contract).
That would be my wild ass guess.

Stamkos hasn't been the same player since the broken leg. The reputation and the name is bigger than the player right now.

Rychel is quite a bit further along than either Poirier or Klimchuk.

I would trade Bennett + Hudler for Stamkos. That is a hefty price to pay, but the Flames can afford it, and they can afford to re-sign him long term.
As strange as it sounds, I'm getting a little worried about Bennett. He hasn't really asserted himself anywhere much this season and is looking a little Baertschi-esk thus far. Probably just going through all the same stuff everyone else is on the team. Just disconcerting to see him only have 1 point in 6 games and that was on a play where the puck slid off his stick (fortunate that it landed on Backlunds)

He generated that play with his speed and had a good wrap around attempt. Might have even been saved. Definitely deserved a nice assist on that one. He needs to learn to get his shot on net though.

Also strongly disagree on the Baertschi-esque comment.
When Baertschi wasn't contributing he was doing Jack-all everywhere else.. Even when Bennett isn't contributing offensively he is stirring crap up and being tenacious.

He also hasn't blamed his lack of success on others.

True, I was referring to lack of offense generation in that comparison. He hasn't been able to do much of anything thus far. He's not the only culprit, but there haven't been many plays thus far where he stands out. He is a better player than Sven in pretty much every way, it's just an early area of note that he hasn't been that good at generating offense. He wasn't awesome in July or during training camp either, that's more of a reason why I am mentioning it. Perhaps he's taking a little while to adjust. I only hope he snaps out of it sooner than later.
Sven was a no-show at the development camps and training camps outside his first season, and struggled to transition and is continuing to do so in Vancouver. That's why the concern.
Like I said, it's early. Just hope he starts to snap out of it soon.

Eklund went all Flames today. Wideman to the Jackets, Flames talking to Flyers, interest in Bozak

My only concern with Bennett is his ability to stay healthy.

He's had one shoulder injury that he sustained before actually playing a single game of professional hockey.

And another shoulder injury last week. Thankfully not serious, but still scary to hear about.

Upper body, unrelated to the surgery he had, and he missed 1 game. Likely that he was simply a bit sore and sat a game out.

Or likely that his style of play may continuously subject him to injuries and showing vulnerability already can make people question his ability to stay healthy long term.
I think that is a valid question to raise, the sky isn't falling yet, but still a valid point. We all wish nothing but the best for the kid, but this conversation was revolving around his play away from the puck. That kind of 'tenacious' play takes a toll on ones body.

I'd like to see Wideman to the Wings for Anthony Mantha.

Flames would probably have to add a lot to make that deal work. I know they were down on Mantha a bit last year but the wings are notorious for being patient with their prospects.

Who wouldn't?
Sadly, it sounds like GMs are sick of being offered Wideman.
