Is the writer an Oiler fan, because aside from the last line it’s a mocking of the Oilers.
She is a local radio host with a horrifyingly annoying voice. Most of her shtick involves mindless "showerthoughts" where she pretends to be even dafter than she really is.
This is perfectly in line with her brand. She may not realize she is cracking fun at the oilers by making this comparison, and she does seem truly obsessed with McDavid.

Simply shocked to see the mechanical sperm jersey second!
I'm not a big blasty guy, nor do I love the black jersey, but do we need to get an update from CP on jersey history? (maybe wait until the new black ones hit the ice).
But that Oiler jersey ... thought Edmontonians hated it too.

Because it's the Oilers, (no good) and was that logo and jersey was done with typical over the top theatrics given who the designer was, it is terrible, but it's not unlike, then what the Flames did in theory, trying too hard to be different.
And now, just like Blasty, the negative connotation is dimished or at least resides in an older, quieter opinion, whereas the younger, more vocal minority who would care about answering these polls, responds to this poll and associates unique/different = good.

This is a polite way of saying that the people who like the horse head jersey are wrong.

I can see why some would like the MechaSperm. It's not like their normal jersey/logo is some creative piece of high fashion. It's a circle that says Oilers...

Have the Oilers ever had better defense than the Flames at any point in history?
Because for as long as I can remember, this hasn't even been a debate.
Even in the 80s, the Flames had MacInnis, Reinhart, McCrimmon, Suter, Macoun, etc.
The Oilers really only had Coffrey and Lowe.

In 1986, Glenn Sather did pick Lee Fogolin to the All Star Team ahead of Al MacInnis, Rob Ramage, among others.

Used to piss me off so much that Sather would pick so many Oilers for the all star while overlooking so many other talented players. A tradition carried on in later years by his buddy Kevin Lowe when choosing players for Olympic teams, Eric Brewer anyone?

You could argue the Pronger defense was better - depends if you’re more impressed by dragging that Edmonton team to game 7 of the finals or a division title with a Vezina/Jennings winner.
Could.

90s cheeseball nostalgia is out of control right now..see the Ducks and Flames reverse retros for further confirmation (and widespread complaints for the Isles not bringing back the fisherman).
And Edmonton just has terrible taste. Hence those orange eyesores they currently wear

I am sure Sather tried to get Semenko on there too.
The Flames fans in attendance got drowned out by the nervous neutrals after the first two Oilers got bombarded.
#### eating grin on Lowe's face as usual. Were back for Gretzky and then Sather at 5:25.

CONFESSION: I’ve never been to an Oilers game, but I’ve somehow made it inside Connor McDavid’s house. As an Edmontonian, I don’t know if that makes me ridiculously lucky, extremely smart, or a complete ####### (or all three), but it certainly makes me an anomaly. Thankfully, inside the modern sleek, black- and wood-accented exterior there’s not a hockey reference in sight, so I won’t have to fake it. As 23-year old interior designer Lauren Kyle — McDavid’s longtime girlfriend — welcomes me into the 8,000-square-foot mansion she designed, she’s rightly amused by my suggestion that hockey royalty must have hockey regalia adorning the walls. “Connor doesn’t like showing off hockey memorabilia,” she says.
Now we know why he likes playing for the Oilers, no chance of accumulating too many trophies.
