That's nothing, you should have heard some of the stuff we heard last night from some folks. We even had one guy saying that "anything" in his community was "worth more than you." when told that police were focusing on saving lives right now, not property.

Woot it only took me 18 minutes to get from Market mall to stoney trail to signal hill.

Now going the other way, i think it might take me 2 hours.

Best part is he was relying on what his neighbors said about the 2005 floods. Also that elderly asian fellow they interviewed at COP is awesome.

Another wild video of High River:

http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Canada...ID/2392968698/

The boat floats past my grandfather's home in the "high" part of town. Can't believe it reached that far. Pretty mindblowing.

Looks as though the rain is letting up... Hope it stays that way for a while, so that these waters can recede somewhat.

On another note, nothing makes one feel old like seeing someone with whom I went to high school anchoring the CFCN news broadcast.

MOD EDIT: Knock it off (everyone, not just this post), if people want to discuss politics start a politics thread, and if you can't discuss things without insulting someone don't post at all.

Medicine Hat's Ron Robinson, Director of Emergency Management gives the following death sentence for his city.

Quote:
Due to anticipated water levels sandbagging is unlikely to be effective, Therefore there will be no sandbagging of homes and or businesses. A berm is being constructed around the electric generation and water treatment facility and there are large sandbags which are being prepared to protect critical infrastructure. People who are outside of the evacuation area may actually see sewage coming up as a result of the rising river, this is something that cannot be effectively stopped in any way, shape or form.
So they're saying the pink is what flooded in '95, and the pink + yellow will flood tomorrow.

Thought it was funny actually, we should be thankful wasn't it something like 600 dead in India? I'm always surprised and impressed by the power of mother nature, no matter how much power we think we have and try to "tame" it we are completely at the will of it.

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Is that water that's come in at ground level, or come up from your drains? My street still looks dry so at this point, but I don't want to let myself hope that I'm in the clear.
