Isn’t it on a bigger footprint and set to include some different things than the last iteration?
I’d think redesign 100%

I'm afraid a re-design would likely result in an even less esthetically pleasing design.

Yes, 5th Street is being moved half a block east and based on the drawings that were released when the new deal was announced, the arena will be rotated 90 degrees to have an East-West orientation rather than North-South.
This gives them more room for the community rink and street level spaces. I wouldn't be surprised if the arena bowl itself has the same layout as the previous design, but the exterior should look quite different.
One thing I hope they keep from the previous design is to have the ice below grade and the main concourse at street level like Detroit, rather than having stairs and escalators right at the main door like a lot of buildings have.

They'd need 22-25 acres instead of 10.

Lol you are going to add the Southern's into the City, CSEC and Stampede bizarre love triangle?!
Good luck with that.

I really really really really hope they go with the inverted bowl design now that they've got more space IIRC they couldn't with the last footprint

Until the inverted bowl is a proven superior alternative, it’s off the table. I doubt it was even seriously considered.

Considering the money that was already spent on the original design, my best guess is they adapt it. The previous design was solid but a lot of stuff was crammed onto a 7 acre parcel, they can allow it to breathe a bit more on a 10 acre plot.

A new NHL quality arena was never, ever, ever going to cost less then a billion dollars. Anyone who thought otherwise needs to stop taking those Nigerian prince emails seriously.

I just said what numbers they agreed too.
We are going to have a billion dollar arena in Calgary how many NHL cities have that?

New York City (3, MSG, UBS, & Barclays), Seattle, Detroit...that seems to be it at the billion dollar end of the scale. Add San Francisco and Milwaukee to the mix if you count NBA arenas.

UBS includes a bunch of other stuff. MSG? Lol. Barclays was like 2 seasons built for basketball. San Francisco and Milwaukee don't have NHL teams.
Detroit is the closest and with cost overruns which all arenas have we will hit a billion.
