If I'm not mistaken it is intended to 'compensate' for time served in custody prior to being convicted of anything. In other words being held in custody while not having actually being convicted of anything at the time.

I think what we don't understand is this. There are two options at trial- guilty or not guilty.
If you are found guilty, then you should serve the sentence you are given.
If you are found not guilty, that is the only time there should be any consideration for being locked up. However this 1.5 rule doesn't do anything for that person.

I think it is because remand is such an incredible hell-hole that they give you a 50% bump when you are there. Sort of like hazard pay I suppose.

Bates can probably confirm but the policy reason is that you are being deprived of your liberty before you've been convicted of a crime. The 1.5 multiplier makes it saveable under the charter.

They are surprisingly well dressed and well spoken for people with no more than 15 brain cells between the 3 of them. I'm impressed.

The look on the one guy's face while the lady was going on about God's breathing system was amazing.

Florida has posted 5000 cases so far today. I’m expecting them to move into the 6000 daily case increase zone by the end of today’s reporting.

I was wondering what happened after the Lake of The Ozarks party in Missouri on Memorial Day:

Cultural:
relating to the ideas, customs, and social behavior of a society.
We consider Florida to be, how shall we put this, uhm, well you know. So to be the capital of that type of culture is still correct. Congrats, I guess?
