Just my opinion, and in consideration of who / what America is- there is no avoiding escalation. You either roll over or be viewed as the aggressor. Propaganda is a real thing.

So is Carney actually Prime Minister effective immediately? How does that process work?

He’s PM designate (not elect) until he’s sworn in.

It is a literally a market advertising tactic called 'repetitive association'. If you keep parroting the same things over and over again, it is proven to work.

It wasn't that long ago when all of the childish, bully name calling crept into political messaging. I think this either started with, or really amped up, during Trump 1.0. 'Crooked Hilary' is the first example that comes to mind.

If you keep repeating that message over and over again, people begin to believe it. If you can successfully associate some denigrating adjective to someone's name then it is extremely difficult to reverse those perceptions. How many of these bully names have been used since this started? It's infuriatingly childish but, sadly, it works.

So, 'Little PP Energy' keeps using repetitive association with his slogans that make 'common sense conservatives' seem like the 'only choice anyone with a brain would make' over anyone on the 'looney left'.

'Carbon-tax Carney' is going to be pushed hard because 'Little PP Energy' already platformed so hard on abolishing it that he would be stupid to try and associate something else with why you should vote PC.

Everyone does it. All of the Liberal ads will feature Trump calling for his 51st state and the border being erased.

Well, he doesn't have a vote in Parliament, so technically no, I guess.

No, but I’m unsure of the differences. He has no vote so that’s one.

That's repeating a talking point. I'm referring to the denigration of individuals using childish nicknames:

Sleepy Joe. Crooked Hillary. Lyin' Ted. Comrade Kamala.

There's an entire Wikipedia with a list of them. It's insanely long:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...y_Donald_Trump

It's not the first time politicians have had nicknames but this is all bully tactics designed to make his opponents all look diminished.

'Little PP Energy' is just using the same tactics. Never actually talks about a political platform. Always just name calling and repeating that they're the only 'common sense' choice.

If it was a Lib minority, maybe rather than handing all the power to Singh, the PCs could pull their heads out of their buts and work across the aisle to influence the agenda.

Welp, there goes part of Carney's credibility right away. A guy who got kicked out of cabinet due to multiple controversies and stated he wouldn't be running again is now Chief of Staff. Why Mendicino of all people?

Liberals gotta Liberals I guess

I think Carney needs to get the election done right away before the honeymoon is over, where Poilievre's Trudeau 2.0 comments may actually end up sticking if left around too long.

Yes, national dental care, banning scabs, increased sick leave, focus on jobs in sustainable energy, MMIWG awareness, the housing accelerator fund.

We just can't afford taking care of our citizenry. Those NDP are monsters!

And by the way, there is no PC party federally. The CPC are more Reform than they are PC.

Is it a good choice? I have no idea. Aren't cons supposed to be happy that it's not Butts and Telford?

The amount of people that are going to vote for or against Carney based on who his Chief of Staff is - is zero. Impact on Carney's credibility? Also zero.
I betcha if you asked 100 Canadians who Mark Mendicino is probably 3 would be able to tell you.
Anybody who cares about this is already fully on board the team PP bandwagon.

Rightwingers are dumb like Trump. They will just move onto another excuse.

The best thing for the Libs is to not only link Pierre Deplorable to Must and Trump, but the link to Danielle Smith. You can't write a better playbook.

I betcha if you shout "Mark Mendicino!" at a busy Starbucks, some guy is going to be like "yeah that's for me, but I ordered a latté".

On a broad scale, no one knows who the hell he is, never mind caring enough to make it sway their vote.
