The money went into his “2025 account” FFS. I didn’t know there were accounts but I guess that makes sense if you owe tonnes over multiple years.
Ahh I’ll just get them to move that money sitting there. Nope not that easy. They said it’s their fault. I have to apply and after 28 business days some magic might happen and then I can ask on his behalf. The incredulousness while talking is just amazing.

Oh yeah...that was messed.
What a clown show that was.
I suppose I shouldn't use the 'past tense' just yet until it actually gets resolved. It was so easy but so stupid and yet they attack you the Taxpayer as though you're the one who have done something wrong.

Same thing happened to me last year, my taxes for 2023 got allocated for 2024. It's actually happened to me a couple of times. My accountant tells the CRA that that's not was intended, that usually gets them to change it over without issue, but they also scratch their heads as to why they happened.

Yep. That's the stuff the irks me the most. I don't mind the enquiry and mistakes happen. I don't like the attitude and accusations for mistakes I didn't make, then wasting tons of time proving I didn't make a mistake to either client or CRA. Some of these recent interactions are just mind numbingly bad.
"Why'd you object?"
"Because the CRA reassessed and the reasoning is totally incorrect to the client's situation."
"Why didn't you re-File instead of object?"
"Wouldn't the CRA just reject the re-File or reassess it back if we re-File the reassessment back to what was originally filed, without addressing the issues that caused the reassessment in the first place?"
"That's your error, objection time frames are longer than re-File. That's always the policy. You should have re-Filed if you wanted a shorter processing time."
Like... seriously stop and think critically for a moment. The point isn't processing time. The point is getting a satisfactory solution.
Don't get me started on the agent who was terse with me about how the client didn't notify them properly of their 2022 status when it came to FHSA.
"Sorry, 2023 was the first year of FHSA... why is there a 2022 requirement?"
"So that the appropriate carryforward number can be determined for 2023."
"... isn't the carryforward zero...?"
"Then that's probably what you should put down."
Your calls may be recorded for training and quality purposes my ass. I don't know how some of these call centre agents can be messing up so damn bad and why it has only started happening in the last year or so.

Oh man, its brutal. And they put you on hold for hours on end listening to Big Brass Band hold music.
"This call is being recorded...for training purposes!"
Yeah. Sure. I'm going to play some heavy death metal so you can record that all you like. I hope you're a big fan of Rammstein.
And where do they find these people? Yesterday I asked the Agent to slow down.
She was Foreign, I presume African, but I couldn't quite tell, her English was alright but she was talking a mile-a-minute, I asked her to just slow down a bit so I could understand her and she flipped on me!
Thats another of the things that really aggravates me.
I'm trying to be polite and respectful but if you're talking at 100 miles an hour you're just bombarding me. You're not talking 'to' me you're talking 'at' me.
Furthermore, if you ask me a question that you want answered and then proceed to just keep bombarding me with more talking and more questions? Do you want an answer or not? If you want me to answer your question you need to STFU for a second or two.
If I cant get a word in edgewise how am I expected to answer your question?
If you ask me 10 questions in 8 seconds how can I be expected to answer them?
Lady...I was formulating a response to Question #1. Questions 2 through 10 I barely even heard. Take a breath.
Its not unique to CRA either, I have clients that do this too. I dont get paid by the hour and I dont bill by the hour. So just STOP! Can we take some time here? Lets address one issue at a time and then constructively move on shall we?
Like...what is this? Some sort of Deposition?

I've been using the phrase, "So to clarify..." quite a bit. I'm not saying anyone is wrong. I'm confirming my understanding isn't wrong.
"So to clarify, you need these answers so that we can make sure both of us are on the same page?" And then they slow down a little bit.

Just had a guy replace our hot water tank. It was due to be replaced but I was hoping to get another year out of it. There goes the monthly budget.

I think mine was like 16-17 years old when I proactively replaced it. 3 guys were yelling while trying to carry that thing upstairs. Apparently there might have been so much sediment, it might as well have been filled with concrete.
I've been wondering if I should regularly flush mine to avoid sediment build up.

Yes, that's what the drain port is for. Once a year you should flush it.

You’re certainly not going to get that from the Vogons at the Canada Revenue Agency.

$1800 installed? If you are the least bit mechanically inclined, you and a buddy with a pickup could probably do it in an afternoon. Did mine a few years ago it was only around $450 plus some black pipe fittings.
Come to think of it, the reason I did it myself was I was quoted $800ish including disposal of the old one.

Yup. All you need is an old length of garden hose and know where the cold water supply line shutoff is. Just remember to drain and refill the tank a few times. Also open the relief valve to make sure it fills properly

It has been more than a few years since you could purchase a water heater for $450.00, not to mention getiing one removed and replaced for $800.00.
