Agreed, but as negotiations go;; Calgary has put their ask at a high level so it is important that they don't go below that threshold, or they'll get less for the next guy they are trying to trade. By holding out they also drive up the offers from other teams. ..Maybe some offers the Flames are looking at are potentially even better. I think it's important that they don't lower their ask, because if they do they might get less for a Hanifin when other GM' see them cave in. It helps Flames knowing that they don't have to trade Markstrom, forcing other teams to pony up.
