Maybe a stupid question, but is gerrymandering an issue in U.S. presidential elections? I am uninformed about how voting districts and the like work at the federal level.

Gerrymandering is meaningless in presidential elections, it’s your voter suppression and intimidation that matters. Gerrymandering impacts congressional maps for house/senate seats. President’s a (mostly) all or nothing thing state by state.

I dont know, they want to try and Gerrymander California and Oregon into Noth and south Cali and west and east Oregon in order to give the GOP some west coast seats

That’s expressly prohibited by article 4

But Texas based on its conditions on joining the US in theory have the power without requiring US congressional approval to split into 5 states.
