Some Americans can be like that.

Same type of people that go on a trip to Paris and complain that they can't get a decent burger, or how hard it is to get a Yeungling.

Haha

I want nothing to do with high priced free agents, but the team isn't going to tear it down right now so adding a solid 2C (maybe even borderline 1C?) with grit and an offensively gifted right shot top 4 Dman would certainly help our cause in trying to win.

More gritty as well. Better playoff team.

Add JT Miller somehow in a trade and we’d be a nightmare to play against.

Dumping Lucic and Monahan’s cap space somehow would be the key.

None of this will happen of course.

Klingberg could be interesting - him and Zadorov might actually work well in more sheltered defensive minutes.

Hanifin-Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Zadorov - Klingberg

Lacks a true number one but would be deep.

Ideally, Miller and Klingberg would really help Calgary pivot and recover offensively and maybe add some dimensions it didn't have before.

Kadri and Klingberg would be a close second.

We really need to unload Lucic, as much as he has been a fan favourite for many, its time and at least his remaining term is manageable now for a receiving team if we can package him with an asset.

Coule give us
Hanifin-Anderson
Kylington-Klingberg
Zadarov-Tanev

That looks crazy deep.
No way Tanev is 3rd pairing.

Swap him with Klingberg and I think you’re gold. I think Mackey will give Kylington a run in training camp.

Well then I don’t want a 7 mill per year third pairing guy. You’d have to trade out a D man to still try and upgrade the top 6 after clearing our Lucic and Monahan.

Oh how great would it be for them to just play Johnny B Goode for Klingberg.

I’d be cool within Kadri and Klingberg to town…yeah yeah, down the road it may suck but whatever. We’d have to unload Looch and Mony to make it work.

Acquisition cost? Does this ever enter the equation? It seems you don't believe so.

This is the best option, but neither of these players would want to come to Calgary without a gross overpayment. You have to understand the situation Calgary is in. It is one of the worst teams in the league for attracting talent. Add that to your plan and be prepared for the gross over payment

Really? You've just come to this conclusion? Treliving should have never acquired him to begin with. Impossible contract to move and a one of the worst players in the league. What could possibly go wrong and how could it hold the team back???

I am not sure the cost to dump Monahan and Lucic but it would be interesting to come back and land the top 2 free agents on the market. I don’t really believe it is possible but just for fun this lineup would still compete for the division

Mangiapane-Lindholm-Tkachuk
Coleman-Kadri-Toffoli
Dube-Backlund-Pelletier
Rooney-Ruzicka-Lewis

Hanifin-Anderson
Zadorov-Klingberg
Kylington-Tanev

Markstrom
Vladar

Super deep blueline where the minutes could be spread out. Center ice would also be deeper than it has been in forever. Don’t know if they have the money to make it work but I would think that team competes with the Oilers for the division

Has CP not learnt anything from high age overpaid free agents we signed in the past? Signing Kadri will have instant regret as soon as this season imo. Stay well away from that contract, it will bite us in the a$$.

No it isn't. This roster is not finishing in a lottery position.

It’s an important draft. Not worrying just about being in a lottery - but dealing back to back 1st rounders shouldn’t be done at this stage I believe. We did it for Toffoli, but doing it again seems reckless. Can’t defect spend like that every year unless you’re a legit contender/defending champion.

Dude is one year from UFA and is an American player…we gonna take that risk? I like Miller, but there would need to be an extension in place.
