Sure, there's a time and phase for dabbling but as far as a method for coping/relaxing, there is a multitude of better things that won't dull your mind and make you smell terrible wherever you go the rest of the day.
In public spaces it's frankly just gross and distracting, and not in a good way.
If you indulge at home and then actually put on fresh clothes and freshen yourself up before going out again then respect to you. That seems like a sensible way to go about it, at least.

buuuuuuuut I think you're overexaggerating the impacts of cannabis. I dont think I've ever really smelt it on anyone who hasn't actively been smoking it in the last minute or so - and if I have, way less prevalent than tobacco smoke and how smokers reek for miles.
I'd say clothing/person smell wise - tobacco is way worse
Active burning smoke smell - tobacco worse again
Annoyingness and impact on others based on your behaviors under the influence - alcohol by a wide margin.
I can see weed smell being annoying if you're subject to it at a campground, but I'd take that smell any day of the week over cigarette smoke.

It definitely has more lasting power than that I'd say. But as for cigs, you're probably right. I forget because I'm never around smokers any more, because hardly any one chainsmokes these days.

Cigarettes definitely smell worse than weed... but I'm not sure it lingers or travels as much if you're outdoors, like at a campground. It seems to dissipate more.

As someone who smoke neither, burning tobacco smells a million times better than burning cannabis.
Cannabis literally contains the same chemicals as skunk spray. I don't know how anyone can claim it smells better. It's disgusting.
Stale cigarette (or even worse cigar) smoke smell lingering on clothing is probably slightly worse than cannabis, but I don't smell either frequently enough anymore to know. I wonder how much of that is a property of the smoke and how much is because historically pot smokers needed to disguise the odor from their parents/employers more than cigarette smokers did so they took steps to minimize the lingering?
Also, I wonder how much volume contributes? I don't know if this has changed since legalization, but in my experience, a group of people smoking cannabis will share one and pass it around. A group of people smoking cigarettes will each smoke their own. So, naturally, there's just going to be more smoke from cigarette smokers.

If you walk by a campsite with weed smokers - heavy weed smokers - you can easily smell from a distance
If you walk by a campsite of cig smokers you won’t smell anything from a distance
It is what it is ! Someone needs to invent something to kill the odor (if they haven’t already )

Parachute to smoke and 600ml pop bottle with the bottom cutoff stuffed with fabric softener sheets to exhale through. No smell. No tell. Weed.

I never realized how offensive pot smoke is to people, I've always found cigarette smoke to be much more noticeable/offensive... #### my neighbor's probably complain about me to each other.

Well yeah. If I walk around my neighbourhood for 10 minutes I’ll smell weed at least a couple times - presumably from people smoking in their back yard or in their home near an open window. I never smell cigarette smoke unless someone smoking walks right past me.

Back in 2004 maybe. Nowadays the answer is to use a vape cart. You can hit those things anywhere with basically no smell.

With all our abilities for genetic engineering and agri-science it could be very possible that at some point the nuisance compounds will be removed.

If you weren't such a stoner you could stay awake past 7 PM and wake up nice and early for a morning gatorade and vodka like the loud partying high functioning alcoholics and their dogs! Maybe even get some exercise on a walk with them
My campsite would have all 3 of the potential gear grinders - Drunks, Pot, and Dogs.
We do try to book a few sites to give buffers and seclude ourselves because we understand we are probably annoying

Someone or something knocked out the power to my neighbourhood this morning. It is over 30 minutes now without power. I'm starting to get worried.

You can see updates here, but it looks like nothing is active right now:

Typically they show up pretty quickly here.

But yeah, you'd have no clue my friends and I are high as mother-fataing kites if you walked by our campsite. We drink Mollos (cannabis drinks), pop capsules, and vape scentless cartridges the entire time we're there. It's a big nothing.
If you are burning flower, which is where you'll get the smell, I'd acknowledge that smell carries and lingers. I can appreciate not liking that; however, I'd way rather be camping beside a bunch of people enjoying and relaxing for their weekend by unwinding with some cannabis in the great outdoors than a bunch of loud hyena-laughing stay-up-late partying drinkers any day of the week. Those guys are so annoying.

You should try sleep buds. After smoking weed, they will put you out, and keep you sleeping. Personally, I find wood chopping guy at 8:00AM the worst.

alright Sliver... i was thinking about you yesterday...
my band went and played a gig at a campsite (a little over 2 hours southeast of kelowna at place called jewel lake - it's pretty close to the can/us border).
we played from 6pm-11pm and it was LOUD!
the guy that hired us to come play had booked around 40 sites and it was a wild party.
what got me was they didn't book the entire camp - so all these other campers would have been up just as late as everyone at the party. to the organizer's credit, he did go around to all the other sites earlier in the day and gave them a heads up about what would be happening and invited them to join us for a night of partying (and lots did join in), but the one thought that went thru my mind was that if i had booked a spot there, it would be as an escape from everything to unwind (no cell or wifi service at all) and wouldn't be pleased with the noise.
oh and then, once we were done around 11, these guys had other speakers already setup at one of the sites and continued cranking out tunes... not as loud as our show, but still waaaaay too loud for 11pm
the pot smoke - holy - it was bad - and endless!
dogs - there were TONS of dogs there (i had been sharing Sliver stories with the guitarist as we drove to the site). my biggest takeaway with all the dogs was that the big dogs were fine.... walking everywhere and getting pats on the head. it was all the little yappy lap rats that were rather annoying - they just endlessly bark - little dog syndrome i guess?
