Nadal was in no mood for games today winning both matches and dropping only 2 games in 4 sets
In 5 sets against Bash on clay he has lost 2 games. Safe to say he has his number on the dirt

the streak was almost broken, but Fed is now 8-0 when having to play 2 matches the same day. this is probably a lot more clay practice than he thought he was gonna get before Paris.

this one really shouldn't get buried underneath the chair throwing stuff, as he really went after a couple of goats.
on Rafa:
Quote:
"He’s my polar opposite, like literally my polar opposite," he said. "When he wins, it’s fine. He won’t say anything bad, he’ll credit the opponent, ‘He was a great player.’ But as soon as I beat him, it’s just like, ‘He has no respect for me, my fans and no respect to the game.’ And I’m like, ‘What are you talking about. I literally played this way when I beat you the other previous times and nothing changed, nothing changed.'"
|
on Djoker:
Quote:
"I just feel like he has a sick obsession with wanting to be liked. He just wants to be like Roger [Federer]," he said. "For me personally—I don’t care right now, I’ve come this far—I feel like he just wants to be liked so much that I just can’t stand him."
He described Djokovic's arm-hoisting gesture to the crowd as "cringe-worthy," adding that it bothered him.
"Honestly, that’s what I’m doing next time—if I play him and beat him, I’m doing his celebration, in front of him," he said. "He always says what he feels like he needs to say, never speaks his opinion."

Thanks for the complement, yes Nadal literally is the polar opposite of you in everyway.

First of all, best wishes to Roger for a speedy recovery. I was really looking forward to seeing Fed take on Greek Yogourt today (a passing of the torch match from the previous gen to the current one).

Everytime Nadal plays Verdasco it turns into a battle and today is no different. There 5 hour match in Australia is still considered one of the best ever.
Also just want to add Giles Mueller is a great commentator, love his insight into the game especially because he recently retired he has played everyone and has great thoughts of each match.

Verdasco is running on fumes now in this second set, I wouldn't be surprised to see Rafa deliver a bagel to his Spanish compatriot.

Any word on the severity? Hopefully this is not going to put his grass season in jeopardy.

No word yet that I can find...Fed was pissed about the wet lines that may have caused his injury.

Delpo up a break in set 1 serving at 4-3 - He definitely has the crowd behind him in this match.
Edit: Delpo takes the opening set 6-4 - Joker had chances to get back on serve, but Delpo was resolute in holding serve.

Joker breaks Delpo and is serving at 4-2 in set 2.
Edit: Going to a tie-breaker in set 2.

Late night tennis continues in Rome as Novak saves two match points and wins the second set tie-breaker 8-6.

Joker takes it 4-6 7-6 6-4 in 3 hours and 1 minute. Tough loss for Delpo, but for somebody who has played very little this season, he played some fantastic tennis tonight.
