I didn't really get invested until the Holtz rumour. Now my expectations are in line with that. I was assuming a 1st and meh prospect before.

Considering the consensus was add a 2nd round pick to the guy to give him away for nothing in September I'd think it will be hard to be too disappointed!

Its absolutely the right move, and the kind of asset management posters here dream of. Even if it bombs your already faint chances at a playoff berth..but Tanev/Hanifin were already going to do that.

You might as well rip the bandaid off now and go home with your bundle of 1sts and talented prospects instead of winding up with the same result as last season where you're left with less future chips than you could've had.

Considering the two teams who are most-likely going to be acquiring him are New Jersey and LA and they're playing each other in Newark tonight, even if a goalie were coming back in the trade, there's pretty much no chance he'd be able to get to Calgary before 7pm tonight.


If they can get a deal done before 3pm MT, they'll likely call up Dansk. If they get it done between 3 and 7, we'll probably see an EBUG. Otherwise, Markstrom can sit on the bench.

Affects/changes nothing in regard to a potential trade.

Doesn't skate then will sit on the bench. He's still being "protected" from any nicks or accidents.
