They have been trying to clear cap from their d-core going back to the offseason, with both Krug and Parayko being mentioned in rumors.

I think they like Parayko but would be very happy to shed that contract without having to take any cap back or retain, and even more if they are getting a 1st and a prospect back.

Also no rumors are ever 100% correct...or else it wouldn't be a rumour.

NHL GMs probably talk about countless scenarios and trade proposals that don't come true every single day...it's not like they only talk about the trades that actually end up being made.

But somehow people always seem to think "Pfft only like 1 out of the 10 things they talked about even happened, they don't know anything"

When really it's just that they aren't filtering the rumors only to those things that are close to happening.

People like Friedman and Mackenzie only share what they know is close to actually happening, Seravalli is probably a bit more on the true "rumor" end of things where he's willing to share pretty much anything he's hearing (and maybe even jumping to his own conclusions on some stuff).

But that's more just their own decision to not share the stuff they are hearing that isn't really close to being confirmed, I'm sure they hear a lot more stuff they don't share.

Ultimately, if their end goal is to get Sec and Diss and others to stop passing along information, then this thread will be so much worse off. Again, it's entertaining, it's engaging. Nothing is accurate until it comes to fruition. Please don't stop doing what you're doing just because the vocal minority are being negative. We appreciate you!

its a really weird position to take
its a speculation and rumors thread, they have some sort of connection to someone in the organization and they are just passing along what they hear.
much more valuable than people simply making stuff up all the time

I honestly think it’s some weird jealously that someone is connected to the hockey world. Although, I think asking if they are ever accurate is fair if the poster hasn’t been following along and just want a gauge on how interested to be. The posters who consistently go after them are weird though.

I do think his reputation has taken a hit, maybe because he doesn't produce much in the way of goals/assists? Either way, I don't see how the leafs can fit him in under the cap without similar money coming back.

He's become a possession anchor who has really lived off the reputation he built for himself over his first four or five NHL seasons. He will always be a guy that's overvalued by GM's due to his size and tools.

He's not a bad player, but is tasked with playing a larger role defensively than he should in St. Louis.

It's a big risk with 6 more years left at 6.5M per season, and I agree, I don't see how they could fit in that contract.

Fortunately, both posters seem to be mature enough to not take the negative callouts they get from a small minority on this board and decide to stop sharing. Emotional haters are gonna hate, and they understand that, which is good for the rest of us who enjoy reading these things they share.
