Yeah, I had to refill my Hot Tub, wash my dog, clean and refill the fish tank, do all the laundry, have a bath, water all the plants and then for a school project we did that thing where you boil water and throw it outside and watch it turn into snow.

That took a few pots of water before we got it right.

And all that before we got the slip'n slide out!

Do you really find it surprising? People get sick of this crap after a while.

Its very similar to COVID, initially most people were accepting and diligent and then things were relaxed and then tightened up again and then...people will accommodate restrictions, for a while but an element of fatigue certainly sets in at some point.

For a lot of people I wouldnt be surprised if the prevailing attitude was 'Again? we just did this!!'

I read somewhere(perhaps from Farkas on Reddit!) that the province limits what can be blasted on the provincial emergency app, and this does not quantify for it, which he said was frustrating.

Perhaps when the UCP seize the means of water management form municipalities, they'll think differently.

It is 100% this. I'm sure everyone will be incredulous about it, but it is the reality and will not change with a government change or your team winning the thingy election of wherever.

Many folks were likely out of town for the holidays as well. Couple that with schools starting back up today as well, and the usage will of course be higher.

Don't take my "woof" comment as surprise, lol. Pretty difficult to care or tell the difference at an individual level whether we're at 485ML or 500ML.

Saw that as well. I think that means that if we continue in the red it qualifies so we'll see if they end up pulling that trigger this week.

It's been 5 days since the restrictions began. 5 days. I doubt fatigue, more inclined that many were away and not paying attention.

Yeah. We were on vacation over the holidays - thus we used no Calgary water. When we came back we needed showers/laundry before the kids started school again.

But today our water usage will be less again (although not zero)

I'm speaking in a much more 'Macro' sense. Not fatigue with this particular round of restrictions in particular, just in general.

Two water restriction periods in 2 years? Where are we living, rural Somalia?

That kind of thing.

Well yesterday I spoke to 3 people who were unaware. and drove past at least of dozen car washes lined up. So we aren't doing great, anecdotally.

Besides...its like that part of the City cant get it's poop in a goddamned group! Its always something with them...

"Oooh...we're flooding!! Too much water!!! Oooh...now not enough water!!! The rest of you must suffer!!"

Pick a lane! Its getting old!

I'm tired of their constant water-related woes.

Well...in fairness, those people are idiots. Who is washing their car in this weather? They know whats coming right? This place is going to be wetter and filthier than the 'SeaWorld splash zone' in a couple of days.

Yep, this afternoon I'm going to the mall with a bucket of mud, and I'm going to smear the words 'water ban' on the wind of all the clean cars.

I saw the Beltline car wash lined up four to a bay (two in, two waiting). That said, it has been a while since the last time so I'll ask: I thought car washes don't use potable water so this is less of a concern than people, say, excessively running home appliances like dishwashers and laundry machines.

That's my understanding, and I must confess that I washed my car in the past week. I'm not there every day, but it reaches a point where the car is absolutely filthy.

Is it not appropriate to hold people responsible? As noted, this was a known problem during Nenshi’s time, and it was not investigated/actioned.

Your misogynistic comment towards the Premiere is also reprehensible, but seeing as your username honours a wife beater…go figure.

Your takes on anything even vaguely political have to be some of the worst I’ve read on this board.

Yeah...but its inappropriate to point the finger SOLELY at your most current Political Rival for a systemic problem that dozens, if not hundreds, of people overlooked over a long period of time and blame that very convenient individual for all of your problems because it scores political points.

Realistically? The Province shouldnt be pointing fingers, they should be trying to find a way to help.
