How much I loved morphine is exactly why heroin terrifies me. It's probably awesome, but #### that, not with my addictive personality

There’s a famous Reddit post like this (assuming it was real). Guy thought it would be cool to document doing heroin once.

Fast forward a few months and he’s in jail or dead. Maybe just homeless and a junkie. I can’t remember. But it was ####ed up.

Basically tracked his entire spiral into addiction.

There's a large gap in the self discipline required to take daily cold showers and the amount of discipline needed to avoid becoming a junkie.

Subway related, I went to the one at chinook the other day and tried one of their new ones as I couldn’t figure out if they still had the old menu items. It was ok, but it was $15.29, which is pretty outrageous for subway. I have a friend that goes to subway fairly often so I ask him if he’s seen the prices go up. He says he was just at his normal location a few days ago and it’s the same price as it’s always been. I use the app and check a few locations and turns out the chinook location has a $3 premium vs other locations for some reason. Not that it’s a big deal, but I certainly didn’t know subway has location specific pricing.

Saw an article (or maybe on the news) recently about this. There were several fast food chains doing this in Calgary (and elsewhere). I did not realize it was a thing either.

I did MDMA when I was.. I dunno, 24? I went with a a friend for a walk downtown. I can still remember when it kicked it. I was looking at one of those petro buildings that have kind of yellow/orange windows. Or maybe that was the MDMA. Anyway, it was ####ing amazing.

TMI RTOTD: Scenario: I have a bag of peanuts that are listed as 100 calories.I swallow the peanut whole and eventually poop many (if not all? I dunno…I wouldn’t count) of the peanuts.
How many calories am I actually taking into my body?
(You could replace corn with peanuts, but I think the calorie content would be a little higher as they digest a little bit)
Things that I think about when I’m sitting on a boat in the middle of the reservoir.

Had morphine a few times over the years at hospitals. All it did was numb the pain and that’s it that’s all. Zero “wonderful feelings” or euphoria or anything memorable. Result is that I really don’t get how morphine is addictive. Evidently my body processes it in the most boring way possible. Same with Opioid drugs. Just blah…. Oh jeez it’s not as painful… oh fahk now I’m just gonna be constipated because of these drugs. That’ll suck. It sucked, until it didn’t. Repeat next major hospital event. How Boring.

I think it's kinda the same for me. I never get the high or euphoria, but the warmth that rolls over you when the pain killers finally knock the pain out is tantalizing - and certainly addictive in its own way

SpontaneousH was the guys handle, to read his first post after trying heroin for the first time click my link then click the link that says "made a post". His story is damn wild and a serious cautionary tale of the power of these drugs.

During the most painful event of my life, and over a full day, I had many rounds of morphine. Gall stones, man, JMFC. The pain was too excruciating & overwhelming, other than the first 10 or so minutes of being delusionally numb.
I asked for a different painkiller, and they gave me Toradol and that just killed the pain and made me content, until they cut that f###er out the next morning.

I would think dosage matters, too. Keep upping that dose and I imagine you'll get to the goods at some point.
