If the Canucks fire AV then I think the Flames should go after him, he has a proven track record in the NHL and is a way better coach than Hartley. Plus he has the extra motivation to stick it to his old team that hypothetically have fired him.
No thanks, the guys been surrounded by very talented teams but when they need to win he can't get them going.
He creates undiciplined teams, his record has been bolstered by the weak division he's in, and he's a pretty much a disaster in the playoffs.
If we're going to go young, we need teaching coach.

Im curious as to what this opinion would be based on exactly.

Really? Forget about first round playoff series, the Flames probably were robbed of the 2004 Stanley cup with no review on the Gelinas goal. To this date I don't recall legions of Flames fans going on about a conspiracy theory. The only conspiracy I can think of that may have some merit is the belief of gratuitous officiating the Wings recieve at home but fans of all teams complain about that.
Go through the game threads from last year and the year before. There's plenty of "the league wants this team out that team to win" stuff

As I just mentioned, the problem isn't pockets of crazy radicals in the fanbase, you are right, the Flames are as guilty of that as any other team in any other city. It is when the delusional type spills over into the local radio host category that is a problem.
Great day for the Flames. We get to see the Canucks fail again in glorious fashion and what is even better, we potentially benefit from it!!

For every one of those teams that makes the conference finals, the Canucks' pick moves one back, worst possible is 26th if all four of those teams make the conference finals. Getting swept does nothing to help their draft position.
^ Nailed it.
The Draft Order goes as follows:
30th = Stanley Cup Champion
29th = Cup finalist
27-28 = Conference Finalists (in order of standings position)
22/23/24-26 = Division Leaders (Canucks and Pens are in this group)
15-21/22/23 = Non-Division Leader Playoff teams (Blues are in this group)
1-14 = Non-playoff teams
With the Canucks being the first division leader to miss the conference finals they are the first team to potentially help the Flames get a better draft position with the Blues pick, which is what really matters here, right?!?
Hopefully the Kings, Sens and Wings can help us out here. I am also hoping for the Rangers to rally back... not much hope for the Wild though.

He has won multiple division titles, two presidents cups, his team are always in the top of the league for goals against per game as he coaches good defensive hockey, he's been nominated and won Jack Adams awards. In the seven years he has coached the Canucks they have made the playoffs six times. Yes his rosters have been talented but he certainly get's the teams to play well under him.
I'm not saying Hartley is a terrible coach but that AV has a better track record.
For the record, Dreger and Fraser both said on TSN it was the right call. Ward might have said otherwise, but it was a debatable call; it could have gone either way.
Guys, I'm sad the Canucks are out. I've had so much fun reading this thread and watching games with my dad, cheering against the Canucks. It's been fun and now it's all over.

Only one down so far, there's still the Habs and Leafs to go.

Yes, that's true, although I have heard Dreger was on Vancouver radio this morning and changed his tune (thought it was a bad call).
/Pandering to the Vancouver listeners?

VFF said he's directly asked Ferraro if Ray dislikes the Flames in general. What was the answer?
I know Rob Kerr made the claim he's been told straight up by members of the media they dislike the Flames due to "not playing the media game" by leaking info or what have you.

He definitely did. I thought it would be amusing to listen to Vancouver radio.... it wasn't. Dreger said it was a bad call. They asked him if the ref's had it in for them and he didn't deny that either.... I turned it off after that.

You do realize Bob Hartley has the better track record, right? He too has multiple division wins, a presidents trophy and consistently high GAA, AND a stanley Cup

Sounds a lot like Hartley then except that there is no Adams award for BH....but he does have something more than AV.
He has won a championship at EVERY level he has ever coached.

I think he said earlier that Ferraro denied having any preference for who wins games. I think that's obvious, given his unbiased and impartial commentary, especially during Canucks games.
