I don't value Nichushkin the way I value Bennett. Especially with his decline in play this year

You may not but I suspect Dallas and their fans are pretty high on Nichushkin.

He doesn't fit an organizational need. I just don't see him as anything worth targeting.

Sexy name.
If his name was something like Duane Wilson, the desire levels would decrease significantly.

He's an UFA. Sign him in the summer if anything. I like him as well.

Would you pay what we paid for Hamilton for Nichushkin?

I wouldn't. Dougie plays a much more important position, and had proven a ton more as an NHLer than Nichushkin has.

Insider trading:
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/insider-...limited~818108
Francis did a great job on Staal trade considering there was likely only 1 or 2 places Eric was willing to go
Rangers were adamant no 1st round pick
Talks are quiet between Eriksson and Bruins
Latest offer is 4 yrs @ $5.25 mil per which won't get it done
Eriksson wants 6 x 6 - might be willing to go to 5 years
Boedker - a lot of the same teams interested as in Eriksson
Market for Boedker is quieter than the Coyotes would like
Likely a Monday deal
Hamhuis is expected to be in line up tonight
Stars and some degree Bruins are interested
People will want to tie him to Capitals, but don't get a strong sense Washington is interested
Same teams that are interested in Hamhuis are to some degree interested in Russell
Bruins definitely interested
LA and Stars with some interest
Flames are in no rush to move Russell
Some teams are concerned with the lingering groin issue, but Flames say that is not a problem
Flames are going to hold on to their cards tight and see if they can squeeze out a better offer
quiet contenders: LA and Anaheim, Stars, and TB expected to do something before the deadline

What we paid for Hamilton is irrelevant. This deal is also nothing like the Hamilton deal. You're assuming we are getting a 1st for Russell, which is not a certainty. As well, we are dealing an asset in Klimchuk that is kind of buried in our system, so the loss there is greatly minimized. We are also including a found asset acquired from moving Hudler. So this deal would break down to us sending out a lost asset in Russell, a found asset in the 2nd from the Hudler deal, and Klimchuk. We really aren't giving up much to get a player with top line potential, something sorely lacking in our system. So yeah, I do this deal and don't give Dallas a chance to think it over.

Dallas working on a d-man. Hamhuis still an option, although things have cooled a bit there. Kris Russell also high on Stars list.

Please be for Nichushkin even though I know that probably won't be the return.

I'd take a number of the Stars defense prospects. They have a lot of good ones to pick from if we don't go the pick route.

I haven't been paying too close of attention but does anyone know how Oleksiak is progressing? He might be a good, obtainable target from Dallas. Oleksiak + 2nd + 3rd?

I don't know much about Nichushkin. Obviously top draft pick, and is a right winger (which we need) but according to NHL.com he has 22g and 37a in 147 NHL games. I take it he's a 2nd liner for Dallas??

I'm still hoping for a goalie.
But obviously Nichushkin would be awesome

I'd easily take any of Mattias Backman, Niklas Hansson, Esa Lindell, or Stephen Johns in a trade.
Johns is huge although he's also the least skilled. Hansson, Lindell, and Backman are all good offensive D-men with the latter two being over 6-2.
If the Flames only got one of Hansson, Lindell, or Backman + 2nd that'd be fine by me.

Nichushkin was proclaimed by some to be one of the elite talents in the 2013 draft.
According to some he had the skill and talent to challenge the top 4 of MacKinnon, Barkov, Drouin and Jones. And the only reason he wasn't considered part of that group was because he was Russian and the KHL factor worked against him.
The reason he hasn't lived up to these loft expectations are injuries and surgeries have really set him back in his NHL career thus far.
Whether he can get back on track is the big question.
