Certainly. Huberdeau was a proven™ player who took a team to the second round. 8-year contracts for all!

1C stopgap. He’s still a 2C and the going rate for a reliable 2C will be around that dollar figure.

Quite the plot twist eh.
I wonder if Gaudreau was first carried by Monahan, then when his game went south a bit then Tkachuk took over that duty?
I think all three guys on that line were just great that season and fed off of one another and their games meshed perfectly to create a deadly offensive and 200ft line.
I think the exercise of dissecting who stirred the straw is a futile exercise. I think it was a complete three man effort that became self sustaining as the year went on.
When they all got off the ride and went their separate ways that's a totally separate thing that shouldn't be tied to that season where all three went super saiyan together.

He's having a hard time hanging to the 3C spot in Vancouver, his play the last 2 years doesn't remotely suggest he would be a good stopgap or mentor for any team on a 7 year contract.

I'm not sure that's fair to Gaudreau. Does he need good players to play with? Yes, because he's a set up guy. And also because if the D can focus just on him, he's easily defendable.
But he drives play and generates offense himself, I don't think there's any debate about that.

Does anyone have a view of Hunter's first assists vs second assists?

Johnny carried the puck and made plays . He had 99 pt season without Tkachuk.
You can say he sucks now but he still has 20 more pts than the next forward on his terrible team for the last 2 years

One. And there's a distinct chance he becomes a Flame in June.

Johnny and Tkachuk were wise to get paid when they did. Tkachuk is still worth his contract but Gaudreau is overpaid and now Lindholm is going to be left holding the bag. I’m really curious to see what Lindy’s contract looks like, because he has been a dud since the breakup.

Defensively though: yeesh.

I think the Flames were one of the last teams to figure out retirement contracts. I doubt many teams would've even done that a year ago. Maybe a couple suckers. But now...

For the other notable player in this deal, Kuzmenko has played 301 minutes as a Flame in 21 games and has 9G, 5A, 14PT producing at a 0.05 points per minute of ice time given or 0.7 PPG pace.
Other random Flames: Coleman is 0.7 PPG, Kadri is 0.9 PPG, Zary is 0.5 PPG, Pospisil is 0.4 PPG.

Nah, UFA contracts have basically always been bad. As the cap squeeze starts to alleviate there will be dumb contracts once again.
Tom Wilson and Sorokin just got retirement contracts this past off season. Meier and Palat also look dumb.

9pt in 22gp (.41p/g) with a -4 for the Nucks. Lindy next contract probably not even half total money that Flames offered. Dodged a bullet there thank ####.
Thats playing with elite players too.
