Gonna be very cool to live in a province where every small-dicked ####### in an F350 is going to wave a pistol at me when I honk at him after he cuts me off, on the crumbling city roads that haven't been paved in 10 years because I'm driving through a neighborhood that didn't vote UCP and the province withheld infrastructure funding after they required all city taxes to be collected by the province.

I was in a Montana sporting goods store today and it was nuts. You could buy ANYTHING down there....my kids (10 and 11) were absolutely stunned and mesmerized that you could buy what looked like a machine gun, a giant knife and a handgun the size of a cannon....off the shelf. My youngest daughter pointed at what looked like an AR and asked if we could buy it and take it home. Thank #### we cannot. My 11 yr old starting talking about school shootings being the reason you can't, which made me proud and at the same time a little bit terrified that she knew about them.

Why anyone would actually WANT that (or even think it's normal that it's possible) is really, really weird to me. Sure, I think the feds are a little too harsh on gun laws here, but WTAF do you need a .50 cal Desert Eagle for? Cobra badgers?

Get lost with that nonsense.

Montana usually has a lower homicide rate than Saskatchewan and Manitoba, (comparable provinces), and has never had a mass school shooting. Saskatchewan had one in 2016 (La Loche), 5 people died.

BTW, Canada's firearm homicide rate has doubled under Trudeau.
The more restrictions he puts in, the higher gun crime climbs, almost like it's inversely proportional.

Homicide rate in Canada since 2016:

2016 - 1.71 2017 -1.83 2018 - 1.79 2019 - 1.84 2020 - 2.01 2021 - 2.09 2022 - 2.27 2023 - 1.94

Doubled?

Yeah, I'm sure the whole month or so Trudeau was PM in 2015 is enough to give him the entire 16% increase in firearm homicide rate for that year to juice the numbers.

And 2023 saw the biggest drop in the homicide rate in over 30 years, so it's probably safe to assume that the firearm homicide rate dropped as well.

There has been an increase in gang and organized crime, but they are mostly targeting each other, by the looks of it. I don't think that per capita for the rest of the general population, there has been a huge spike.

It's from an outside perspective, but it feels like in the States, anybody from a framer, to an accountant, to a kid who just got his braces, could just start firing away at any moment, with a gun they spent 20 bucks on at 7-11. Hyperbole.

Generally speaking, education, gun control and indoctrination into what it is to be Canadian, keeps it all under control.

Isn't the entire state of Florida legally zoned as a shooting range?

Cool.

You know what happened in 2015? The Supreme Court approved the destruction of the long gun registry.

Trudeau didn't change the gun control regime until 2020, and then again in 2022.

Very neat trick to blame Trudeau's gun control policies for changes in the firearms homicide rate that happened in the six years before they were implemented. It would be magical if causality actually worked in reverse through time.

The corollary is that he must not have done enough to address the skyrocketing rates during that time, so is obviously 100% to blame. The beauty of stats is that they can be used to argue every position!
