It's all employees voting by the end of January, not just execs. Polished fuselage not an option for composites like the Airbuses and the 787, they're not metal. A few of these newly painted planes with the flag have been here in Calgary, and the silver paint looks pretty good. They just need to get the tail sorted out.
I actually like the new look, and the tail to me is the best part. the "AA" brand looks old, reminds me of crappy reservation systems and poor customer service.

Yeah, and when you look at the picture of the 77 and the 37 together -it really looks good.

WestJet's Miracle video was awesome. The better half was watching Dish Nation (a TMZ knock off using morning radio shows) and they were talking about it.
I read an article about how it wouldn't actually affect WestJet's market share as in the airline industry nothing matters but price. So even if you loved the video if it's $50 cheaper to fly Porter or Air Canada, you won't be flying WestJet.
Where that marketing does make sense, is that if they are the same price you'll pick WestJet (although I think most are anyway). Additionally, I'd be curious to know how much money they've made off ads on YouTube. According to http://ytcalc.com/ 30,000,000 views would equate to between $9,500-$80,000 CDN. That could be enough to cover the costs of the marketing stunt.
It's not clear how much accounts make on YouTube videos, so it could be higher than that. Interesting to think that WestJet could be being paid to advertise themselves and thus it not costing them anything to get that marginal decision when prices are equal.

One of the WS marketing guys said in an article that the cost of doing the Miracle video was less than the typical advertising buy. Obviously Best Buy and Crossiron chipped in too to make it happen, so they have made out beautifully with this.
Aviation related, every year NORAD tracks Santa as he makes his way around the world. But why? Why would a military organization do something like this? Are they trying to turn Christmas into just another marketing gimmick for the armed forces?
Well here is the reason why, and it goes back to 1955 and typo in a Sears ad:
A Note on Heritage
Even as we look to the future, we want to embrace our history because we are proud of
it. One way we will do that is through heritage liveries. US Airways has several aircraft
in predecessor company liveries today, such as the PSA livery (complete with smile)
shown above. We will continue that tradition at American, including introducing a TWA
aircraft in the future and keeping a US Airways livery aircraft. That also means we will
keep a heritage American livery in the fleet. So, regardless of the result of this vote, the
AA and eagle will remain represented.
Air Canada has been trial running this too with a few aircraft that operate YYZ-LAX, I would expect to see them not far behind on this.
I don't believe the article said that WestJet was going to offer Gogo, just that they would offer internet in 2014 and (seeprately) that Gogo has been working on a land based offering. They also mentioned the rapidly evolving satellite based higher speed options though....
